I stayed in this hostel for one night as I was leaving from Amsterdam the next day. I was not overly impressed with the awkward layout, or the grumpy receptionist in the morning. The bed room layout was okay, a tad noisy but that's expected. The real issue was the room stunk of maurijuana. This meant the window had to... More

I booked this hostel only for its perfect location. Nothing else I had in mind. It is nice facility right in Amsterdam's den of vice)). Staff was friendly and helpful. Bunks are also ok. What shallI mention that bathrooms should be a bit cleaner.

The hostal was in an incredible location. Just a few minutes from Amsterdam Central Station, which is very convenient to explore the city. A very clean hostal, The rooms are very confortable and spacious, bathrooms were very clean as well. Staff was very helpful and nice. The location was great, very close to bars, restaurants, etc, they even give you... More

If you want to live with mice - go ahead. Me and 8 friends stayed in a room on the first floor to be woke up to mice climbing the curtains and running all over our clothes. Not had any sleep from hearing all the mice running about. Staff are friendly but couldn't deal with the issue accordingly and only... More

Good if you want a no-frills and cheap bed to sleep in when you're in Amsterdam. I did find it difficult, however, to sleep when the bells from the Oude Kerk were going off pretty much every 15 minutes 24/7. The melody is now forever engrained into my soul. A couple of the plugs were broken, didn't pick up wifi... More

I stayed in a shared dorm for the night with 3 friends. Clean comfy bunk beds. Plug socket top and bottom. Another guest grinding there teeth but that's what you get when you book a shared room lol. Apart from that, pleasant stay and great friendly funny staff

Good location if all you care about is the red light district, but everything else was horrible. The walls were dirty (we don't even want to know what the stains were from). We stayed in a 10-person mixed dorm and the top of the bunks were so close to the ceiling that you could barely get up there, let alone... More

The White Tulip isn't a bad place, it was a nice place to stay & was in a very very good place. We had to change rooms because there was 3 or 4 mice in the room when we were trying to sleep. They were accommodating though so other then that it was a nice place. Very close to nice... More

We were given room 305 when we first arrived and found out very quickly after we checked in that the room was infested with mice. We told the receptionist this to which she responded "yeah there's a problem with the window so that always happens". We payed 37e for the two nights we stayed there and considering there was mice... Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
