We stayed at the Frisco Inn for an overnight stop gap between flights. Staff were friendly enough, although the receptionist doubles as the bar maid/man so getting checked in happens between rounds but again, the girl was amiable enough. The first stumbling block was the flight of stairs leading to ALL rooms...we're young/semi-fit but if you have heavy bags that... More

Amsterdam is a great, fun city and that's why it's a good idea to get accommodations as close to the action as you can. Frisco Inn does a great job of catering to those who want a reasonably inexpensive option to have more money for *ahem*...the more specialized activities. Located literally three minutes walking distance from the train station, it's... More

Stayed here for 2 nights this week. Really good location, right next to grasshopper. Staff were very friendly, checked in quick, room was very smart and clean, only problem was the weather was hot and we didn't have an air con or a fan! Breakfast was lovely, drinks reasonable priced! We would definitely return. Thanks guys

I found this hotel for a short stay participating a conference in the Beurs. This hotel is just behind that. The hotel and the rooms are nice, clean. There is little space in the room, and the steps are really steep, be aware of that. Staff is friendly, the bar is also great downstairs.

Let's be honest you come to Amsterdam for the night life and because the hotel is very very central it can be a bit noisy, but the rooms are very fresh, good bathroom and very comfortable beds. Please note the stairs up to the rooms are very steep so if you have difficulty with stairs this hotel is not for... More

We choose not to spend much on hotels, as we find plenty of other places to spend our money! This hotel was central, the room was clean, warm, the bed was comfy. Staff were very friendly. The reception was a bar, what's not to like?

My partner and I have just come back from Amsterdam. On our yearly visit there we always stay at the Frisco Inn, it's always been great. The staff are friendly, the rooms are always cleaned and fresh towels bought everyday. This time we went they have had a full renovation and it looks great, they now have kettles in the... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
