Based on TripAdvisor reviews, I chose the Hotel Rookies in Amsterdam and I do not regret one minute. Before my arrival, I emailed John many times with many questions. He was always gracious and answered all my questions fully. Before arriving to the city, I receive an email from John stating that he had arranged transportation from the airport to... More

I had read the reviews on this site and liked the overall feel of this hotel. I had planned to stay for 7 nights so I called the hotel directly to see if I could get a better rate. The gentleman who answered, John, was more than helpful; we worked something out, and within 10 mins I was booked for... More

I stayed in a tiny single room which was like 7m2 that cost me 85€ a night a real rip off. The staff is nice, but it doesnt make it to be a nice hotel. Breakfast VERY basic and boring. My bathroom was a nightmare with the shower that couldnt work properly. It was not a real shower, i was... More

We stayed in rookies for 6 days, we had initially booked for 4 days. But due to unforeseen circumstances we added 2 extra nights. We were late (11pm) checking in as our flight had been badly delayed but we just asked the staff in the coffee shop who gladly took our bags and check us in as reception had closed.... More

We stayed at the Rookies (previously Uptown) Hotel for four nights, having been recommended as it is so close to the Paradiso, and we were in town for a concert. We've never been to Amsterdam before, so we wanted to be centrally located, and this hotel is right in the trendy area of Leidseplein. The owners made us so welcome... More

The Rookies was a charming hotel. The room was clean, the staff watched over us and we were nicely taken care of. We were there on a Monday night and had a room in the back. We didn't have issues with noise at all. Breakfast was very nice. The coffee was great. I recommend this place. A great value for... More

Hotel Uptown, or Rookies as it is now more effectionatlly known was ideal for our needs as a crash pad for somewhere to stay during our short break to the Dam in April 2008. The phrase you get what you pay for very much rings true here - which was fine as I assume most people visiting Amsterdam are not... More

Came to visit Amsterdam and wanted to stay close to the Leidseplein. Our room was a double. It was quite small but had a wonderful view and was clean (except for a bad water stain by the bathroom door). The breakfast was included and very good. The front desk guy was very nice and helpful with directions and things to... More
