the location is perfect, close to central station and to an area with lots of bars and restaurants. we had a triple room in the 3 floor, there is no elevator and the stairs are quite steep, so consider the fact that u have to carry ur luggage up alone. it was a canal view room, quite spacious with windows... Spent three nights at this hotel in the beginning of May, and would consider to stay here again for a short stay. We had a triple room with canal view, and it was quite noisy at night due to trams and other traffic. Bring earplugs. The roomhad an OK size, but our other friends staying at the next room (a... We stayed here while working in Amsterdam, and have no complaints,5 minute walk to Dam Square with plenty to see on the way.If you don't fancy a walk there is a tram stop right outside the door.We stayed in the rear of the hotel which was very quiet. On returning back to the hotel around 10pm,the street was also quiet.I would not... The hotel des Arts is an wonderful hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. It's very close to Kalverstraat street (a commercial street), also The Dam Square, Royal Palace and Flower Market are about 500 m. It offers easy acess to all the main atractions of Amsterdam by a cable car, walk and if you prefer by bike (It's really easy... More

Gorgeous old building from the outside, fantastic central location. We stayed in a quad room, ship-themed, not facing the canal (much quieter), children loved the stairs up to their beds in the room. Even though the rooms display the non-smoking sign, the corridors are smoked in and permeate the smell into the rooms and pillows. Beds comfortable and a good... More

We stayed in the family room offered at Hotel Des Arts with our family of 5. All though the room was small, this was no surprise as it was clearly stated in the Internet advertising. The bedding was very comfortable and the area was quiet. The location was perfect and all the main tourist areas were just a short walk... More

We (two friends) booked this for a 30th birthday party. There were around 15 of us, so our choice was limited, but this had a lot of vacancies. There are a few bad points - the guy at the counter is pretty rude and, more importantly, is unhelpful provides poor service. We booked a twin, only one of the beds... More

This unique family runned hotel was a great place for our first visit to Amsterdam. The owners are very kind and helpful as the hotel is clean and we felt like at home. The breakfast room is really cute and romantic. It`s true that you hear a lot through the walls but the other guests were very pleasant and it... More

The hotel looks so nice on the photos, family run hotel in a 17th century building off the Canal; as soon as you puch open the door you get a faint smell of stain tobacco smoke which seems to haunt the whole joint.. You go upstairs after being ordered to pay for your entire trip (they are probably used to... More

The hotel's website photos promise cheerful, colorful rooms, but my room (and a couple others I saw) was more like staying in a prison cell, cramped, colorless, viewless, FREEZING COLD, and NOISY ALL NIGHT. Breakfast - included only if you book through the hotel - is cold hard-boiled eggs, cold rolls, cold bland cheese slices, cold cheap meat slices, and... More
