Have been stayingat Hotel Van Onna for the last 17 years of visits to Amsterdam. Loek is knowledgeable and a great host. The rooms are small but very clean. A quiet location in the Jordaan area. Nice breakfast too.

We stayed at Onna two nights in March and really appreciated having a clean and professionally run place as our first destination in Holland. The location is excellent. The staff was friendly and efficient. The rooms are very spartan, but who cares when you're in Amsterdam? The point is to have a place to sleep, eat a breakfast and shower.... More

As others have mentioned, don't expect anything more than the basics. I had read these reviews, and thus was prepared for anything. But I was pleasantly pleased with my experience. It's situated in a beautiful part of the Jordaan, near the Anne Frank house. The location couldn't be better, if you like being far enough away from the bustle of... More

Despite calling ahead to warn the hotel that I would be arriving late in the evening (flight delays related to recent security events) nobody was there when I showed up. No answer at door, no answer on phone. I know its a budget hotel, but thats terrible. Had to get another hotel for that night - not fun. Checked into... More

I stayed in a single room. It was on the ground floor, which meant that people were walking by right outside the window. So there was no sense of privacy. Clean and basic. No TV, no phone. Small. Location is excellent, but this is more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Staff was friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was OK: bread,... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Van Onna June 24-26 2006. Our first impression was dissapointment, although we had read the reviews and we were ready for basic we were still shocked to see just how basic it was. We had a attic room which was bright and roomy. the bath room however was extremely small and instutional like with... More

I stayed in Hotel Van Onna for 4 nights. Although i had an early reservation they gave one the worst room of the hotel with a continuous water noise for 24 hours(apart from being dirty and dark). I asked them to change my room but they didn't, even though they had so many other rooms avaliable. In the end of... More

I stayed at the Van Onna from 4/16 /06 to 4/25/06. I found the hotel to be very comfortable; 2 twin beds, firm but comfortable, each w/ nite stand, very clean bath w/ shower stall ( the room was always VERY clean). No T.V., radio, phone or clock, so if this is important to you, you may want to think... More

I just returned from Amsterdam........My 3rd trip in 5 years....I love this city. I booked a single room for 40 euros per night. A basic room with bath & shower in room. Great location. I'll be back next year.
