Myself and my partner stayed here for New Years Eve til the 4th of January and paid €440 for 4 nights which was quite steep based on the hotel, however the time of year had an impact on this. Rooms were clean but basic, beds were comfy and adequate, no issues with hot water in the bathroom and we had... More

I have visited the beautiful dutch city of amsterdam around 13 times, the vast majority of which I have stayed at the hotel van onna, and with good reason. I recommend it as a place to stay when you want a no frills, basic and reasonably priced hotel, that is ideal for staying in Amsterdam on a tight budget. It... More

Staff was very pleasant and helpful; the place was simple, clean, comfortable and cheerful. The location was very pretty and central to many popular activities in Amsterdam, including just walking and experiencing the Jordaan district. Breakfast was generous and cheerfully served. I really enjoyed my stay here!

We thought we would stay somewhere cheaper for a change and it just wasn't worth it at van Onna. First of all, if you are over 6 foot tall don't do it. I was constantly hitting my head on the ceiling. the cleanliness was okay but the rooms are old. Wi-Fi doesn't work in the rooms. We had no hot... More

I have stayed in this hotel five or six times over recent years. It is in a lovely location on one of the prettiest canals in Amsterdam, very near many sights such as the Anne Frank House, the Westerkerk, and the charms of the Jordaan. The hotel consists of several canal houses knocked together; because the buildings are seventeenth century,... More

I really liked this hotel very much, very charming......It is a very good one star, very clean and I really liked the shower and having a private bathroom. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The only down side was the stairs, because we were on the last from top floor, but it was do-able....breakfast was free and included... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
