minus no internet in the room,(Only at the reception before 11pm.) no TV, bad sound insulation plus close to the center, clean, friendly staff Rooms are also heated, which is very useful when you are constantly raining.

I have been there for 5 nights with a friend. Excellent position, everything is just on a walking distance...nice breakfast, room small and basic but confortable, very friendly environment. We had a great stay!

Not a very bad budget option for accommodation in Amsterdam. It is extremely basic (a lot of hostels are much more luxurious) and the rooms are a little run-down. There are lots of things that could be improved. For example, I didn't get any towel (I think that this was probably an oversight by housekeeping). Also, there was no shower... More

This hotel was in a great area........15 mins from centre of town and in in a very pretty situation on the canal. Our second night was spent in a very dingy room on the lower ground floor and because I did not book online I had the pleasure of paying one hundred euros for a 60 euro room!!!!!!!!!!!!! The problem... More

I really enjoy time there. Room was clean. breakfast generous. And very close to mean attractions.we could sleep well, because all the time was quiet. internet you can have just at the reception in the room is not working that well. you cannot smoke in the hole hotel, but outside is not a problem. people are friendly and ready to... As many other reviews have already said this hotel has this one room that is only fit for a homeless person. I understand perfectly well that this is Europe, I'm from Europe, and the rooms will be small, and so will the bathrooms, but this Hotel is ruining their reputation by continuing to offer this room to its clients. I... More

Hotel Van Onna is a basic, low-budget hotel, so you can't expect luxury; rooms are small with low ceilings, stairs are narrow and steep, and there will be small signs of wear. You only get wifi in reception and this can be temperamental at times, cutting out unexpectedly or refusing to connect at all. However, the bedrooms are spotless and cleaned... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
