booked this hotel because we did not like some of the 4 star reviews. The hotel staff are great, the rooms are better than most equivalent Paris hotels. The location is great and close to the action whilst quiet enough to avoid most of the Saturday night noise. The views are great, they give you the first breakfast free and... More

Wow! From the moment you step onto the boathouse, you cannot help but admire all the appliances and comfort on board. From filter coffee machines (with filter coffee in stock) to washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, music systems, television, comfy lounge furniture and equally comfortable beds, a boathouse is a haven in the midst of a very busy city and... Visited with a friend on 8/9 September returning from Scotland football match in Germany. We had booked a twin room and when we arrived (at noon) it wasn't ready. Fair enough we thought and the hotel looked after our cases so that we could go and explore. I wanted to change out of my shorts but that was not possible.... More

The location is fantastic, you won't really need any public transportation to explore the city centre. everywhere is within walking distance. I don't think more rooms are suitable for more than 2 people and no AC makes you leave windows open so do not forget your earplugs!

We spent 3 nights in Room 22 which overlooks the canal. The view was delightful and the location ideal for exploring the city. It was very hot indeed and so we had to open the windows which allowed insects in and my husband was badly bitten. The hotel provided plug ins that were supposed to help but didn't. When does... Within the last decade we have stayed in many hotels in Amsterdam, including some high-end ones, but this one is absolutely the best and we will certainly come to stay here again the next time we are in town. It is in a wonderful location, close to all attractions but relatively quiet, with a view on a lovely canal and... More

I have been staying at the Hotel Eureka since the 1970s. It is in a great location just steps away from the Mint Tower and the Europa Hotel. The rooms are comfortable and not to small. Be sure to ask for a room looking out onto the Amstel canal. The best feature are the breakfast that is provided. They have... More

The Amsterdam House Hotel was our first stop on a week of travel. It was comfortable and charming. It is an old hotel and some things may be a little worn or quirky but I love that. The room was exactly like the picture. It was small, but had everything we needed. The bathroom was tiny too, but expected. There... More

We enjoyed three nights in a double canal view room at the Amsterdam House Hotel. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the location can't be beat and the beds and pillows were comfy. The rooms are no frills (with good in-room coffee), but we spent most of our time away. The complimentary breakfast on the first morning was a nice treat.... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
