We really enjoyed our stay in this quirky boutique hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. One lady even offered to post my postcards for me because I couldn't find a post box! The rooms were clean and very individual. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh bread and croissants from the oven behind the bar, plus a great selection... More

Ever since finding this place a few years ago its now the only place I stay when in Amsterdam. Iv stayed in both the apartments located on the Niewmarkt and the otel itself on the Warmoestraat. Both excellent city centre locations and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Weed smoking is allowed, the staff are great and go out of there way... More

Great wee hotel, thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay in this hotel. Our room was right above the bar making it a bit noisy and hard to sleep at night, but other than that no complaints. The staff are nice and friendly, apart from one who was abrupt at times. The breakfasts were fantastic and we found ourselves really looking forward... More

As the title suggests, this is a hotel where you can smoke weed in your bedroom! The staff are fantastic and very friendly and helpful. My room (rm 5, red light) was pleasant and we'll designed, definitely value for money! The breakfast was lovely, very fresh and pleanty of it. They don't have their coffee shop next door anymore it... More

Have been staying at the greenhouse everytime my partner and I have visited Amsterdam for the past 10 years. Truly love this hotel. It has a fantastic vibe, great and friendly staff. The rooms are all different and themed. The rooms we have stayed in have always been clean, fresh and tidy. The bar and cafe are lovely and have... More

Me and a few friends traveled to Amsterdam for my birthday and stayed at this hotel. Couldn't have asked for more!! Lovely staff, cute bar, awesome themed rooms, clean, nice little breakfast and perfect location right in the middle of it all! First experience of Amsterdam was amazing and it would be an easy decision to return to this hotel!!

I did not stay at the hotel, I visited the coffeeshop, and the place is really nice. The staff was friendly and I even became friends with one of the patrons. Base on this my next visit I might book a room at the hotel.

Stayed here for my birthday in October for one night with 7 friends. Location is best you will find, everything is on your doorstep. We planned on using the hotels facilities a bit more than we did, but you get lost in this great city so went to other bars/cafes across the city. The rooms were very basic and was... More

Although this is classed as a hotel I used only the bar area as I was exploring the back streets of Amsterdam on a weekend stayover with DFDS ferries. The bar is very busy and located directly off Warmoestraat which is close to the centraal station, river and red light district. It just seems to be busy all the time day and... More

Booked 1 night here after staying 3 nights at Torenzicht Hotel, where they had no space on the Saturday. Was expecting a small bedroom like I had at Torenzicht but what I got was much better. I was worried when I checked in and they gave me instructions and a map to find my room. I assumed it was above... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
