We stayed here for a wkend break and found the location was perfect for getting around all the sights . The room was lovely. And staff very helpful. Breakfast was continental but plenty of it. There are lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel and Dam Square is only a short walk away

You can't fault the location of this hotel. Absolutely close to everything. Maybe I'd forgotten how small European hotels can be but these rooms are very small. Clean with small bathroom with threadbare towels. Stayed 3 nights. The staff were always helpful and pleasant.

Me and my wife stayed at Rokin when we went for a conference in the Netherlands...the location of the hotel is awesome! Very closer to the Amsterdam Centraal Station and closer to Dam Square as well as other prominent tourist attractions. The room was a little tiny but very well kept. There are few stains on the carpet but not... More

Situated very close to Dam Square which is right at the centre of things in this marvellous city, that's one of the pluses, the rest would be , very helpful reception staff with good knowledge on restaurants, transport etc., good breakfast/dining room with all the usual buffet ingredients plus a good supply of real scrambled eggs and bacon. Nice clean rooms... More

Check in was easy. Booked in advance so received a 10 percent discount at check in. See their website for details. The guy who checked us in named Jon was more than gracious and even split the payment for me and my friend. Room was fine. It was clean and Im a little of a hotel room clean freak. Did... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
