The hotel is in walking distance to major museums such as the Van Gogh Museum. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood approx. 10 min by tram to Dam SQ (tram # 4). We spent four nights at the hotel. We booked a QUAD room for 2 adults and 2 grown up boys. The room (room #34) was a... More

Highly recommended if you're looking for a small, friendly hotel in a nice part of Amsterdam. Extremely helpful and attentive staff. We'd definitely stay here again. When you arrive ask for one of their free maps which includes 'In the vicinity of Hotel NW' as well as good maps of the city and canals. Most visitors probably head for the... More

A perfect choice if you want a nice, calm hotel near the museums. Nice beds, nice staff, clean. Only wanted a rug when you get out of the shower. Breakfast ok but not luxurious. Fruit and eggs, youghurt bread and juice, tea or coffee.

Good friendly hotel just a short walk from Rembrandt Square where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Breakfast reasonable with choice although fruit juice limited. Bedroom a little on the small side but clean, bathroom a little claustrophobic, but adequate. Despite some negatives it is good value for money and how much time is spent in the hotel or... More

Liked the fact that all the staff helped us with everything we needed. Hotel is in centre of everything, we used trams to travel but we walked as well as nothing was that far from hotel. Loved it!!!!!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean. Rooms small and basic however excellent value for money. Quiet location however walking distance to rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, stedelijk museum or catch tram if you don't want to walk. Recommend cafe kale to eat just a few minutes walk from hotel or take tram/walk to leidesplein for abundance of restaurants. would definitely... More

A very good, clean room, if small. Comfortable bed, warm, quiet, adequate bathroom, with all necessary toiletries and lovely hot water. The staff were all very friendly and helpful ; breakfast was 'copieux'. The hotel was only 20 minutes walk from the city centre, but of course there were trams and buses, if we had chosen to go that way.... More

I had been here years ago and remember it as a good small hotel. Something seems to have changed- it seems cramped and tired. very thin partitions between rooms. I could here every word of one end a phone conversation from the room next door. That shouldn't happen. overall impression is of a good hotel that went down market and... More

What a gem of a hotel. You are welcomed with a smile and offered helpful hints when you need them It is close to the city and close to the trams yet not noisy at all The rooms are comfortable and warm with nice and clean bathroom facilities Breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip with... I have stayed in the Nicolaas Witsen a couple of times now, on a regular annual week trip to Amsterdam. The location works well for me, not just in terms of where I have to be during the day, but in being both quiet and within the old canals of Amsterdam. It is outside the manic centre, but close enough... More
