We have stayed at the Kooyk Hotel for one night. Location is brilliant, close to the trams, canal boats and the Leidse plein. The place is a bit old and shabby inside but it is great value for money. The owner is wonderful and very helpful. He makes time to give you loads of information and free maps. We slept... More

Amsterdam is outrageously expense, so we decided to stay at the Kooyk hotel for the weekend for it's price of 80 euros/night. Booked online. Location is right near the Leidesplein and next on the canal near the Americain hotel. Nice quite, location, however, the hotel rooms are pretty funky. The front lady was really nice and gave us a quick... More

We paid 55 euro for a friday and saturday night. We wern't expecting the ritz but I was pleastently suprised. The room was big, we had a working tv and the beds were very comfortable. We also had a lovely view of the canal. We were lucky enough to have our room on the floor with the showers on. Which... More

i have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years in Amsterdam. mainly buget ones cos they are cheap. (the best one being the Acro Hotel by the way-& the only one i would return to). anyways, the Kooyk was actually ok. i was worried before hand as the room only cost me 20 GBP for the night!! the... For the price this was excellent. Clean but basic rooms, very quiet, and a pleasant Dutch breakfast. The owner Mr Moonen is very helpfull and friendly, and the hotel is in a great location. If you are on a restricted budget you cannot do better in central Amsterdam.

Face it, folks, we get what we pay for. Mostly. Hopefully. Amsterdam is simply not an easy city in which to spend a restful night on a shoestring budget. The first good thing about Kooyk is its terrific location, just off the Leidseplein right in the heart of old Amsterdam with streetcars only a block away. The breakfast was more... More

I thought it would be a great place to stay, according to hostel world's comments, but i was wrong. When we arrived before 12 pm first day, we were greeted by a lady staff who seemed angry that we arrived then!. Nevermind that. There were 2 other staff who were friendly, sorts of neutralises things. But when we checked in... More

I haven't read the other reviews of this hotel yet, but I've seen some of the opening lines -- rude owner, icy shower, etc. The owner, Pierre, was absolutely friendly to us. He was always smiling and helpful -- definitely quirky. (Maybe he liked me because I always greeted him in Dutch?) That's why I liked this place. The interior... More

We were a group of girls staying here for a birthday weekend in Amsterdam so wanted a budget hotel near all the action of Leidesplein. It's a GREAT location for this, just round the corner, so saving our high heeled feet for dancing! The hotel is an old building so be aware the stairs are steep and narrow. Our room... More
