1st time to Amsterdam and was told prices were high but oh my goodness this was s.h.i.tt . Ultimately it is somewhere to rest our head, but in central London, the rooms were FAAAARRRRR better and almost a fifth of the price. I paid the same for 7 people for bunk beds for 3 nights as I did here! Do... More

The stairs are really steep but the place itself was clean and we felt safe. There was no long waits to use the shared bathroom on our floor and the beds were comfortable. The location is amazing, really close to the station and not much of a walk to the main tourist spots. If you are on a budget this... More

It´s a perfect place for a short stay. It´s clean and has a good value for it´s price. Just be careful and don't take too much luggage with you because you'll have to walk a lot of stairs and they´re are tiny! In overall we had a good stay there and the staff is friendly

If you are ant-sized, you will have no problem navigating the treacherous steps from the tiny entryway to the tiny room many floors above. If you are ant-sized, you'll be able to move around comfortably in Room #18, where the ceiling is low, and they managed to squeeze 6 (admittedly cozy) beds and a small bathroom into an attic closet.... Stayed here as a couple and thought it was really good. Booked as a hostel and got exactly what expected and more. This place is very under reviewed, down sides are one shower and toilet per floor but this was never a problem for us and the stair case is step but it's an old building and not many steps... More

Hotel Mevlana has a great location about a 10 minute walk to anywhere near the Red Light District and a quick ride to any of the museums on a convenient bus with a stop located outside the hostel. It is also about an 8 minute walk to central station for easy airport and out of city access. The beds were... More

Great location if you are looking to explore central Amsterdam. Lots of stairs and tight spaces but clean beds and bathroom. Can't complain for the money and location. Bit noisy at night but it is a hostel.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
