Overall the hostel was great. We just stayed two nights, 5 of us in a 6 bed dorm and had a great time. The location is great with Leidsplein being within a few minutes walk - good for a night out - and the 1, 2 or 5 trams going into the centre of town & close to the red... More

As far as a place to stay, be smart! Book a bed and breakfast instead of a hostel - Less of a charge and a better living area without half the hassle. We stayed in a Stayokay hostel in Vondelpark only to have a freelance (by freelance I mean they are hired independently and not at all associated with the... More

Clean room, clean private full bathroom in room, friendly service...some noise in hallways late at night, but nothing earplugs couldn't take care of...no lockers...great breakfast, but get there a little early - they start clearing it all out 15 min. earlier than it says. Dark walk down the path to hostel at night ( i'm a solo female traveller), felt... More

For those traveling alone, HIGHLY recommended. Meet a lot of great/diverse travelers. Full breakfast, which is GREAT, and good location.

Have just returned from a weekend away at the Stayokay, Vondelpark. I booked a private room for four, the room we were given slept 6 with 3 bunk beds and ensuite. After reading reviews on here I was slightly anxious about the condition of the rooms. However, they are all you need, bigger than expected and really clean. Reception staff... More

This isn't a luxury hotel, and doesn't try to be. But they served me very well. I was on a very low budget, so opted for a dorm style room. It was clean, everything worked, the place was quiet and well organized. Yes, most of those staying there were younger than me, but no matter. Breakfast was excellent, with no... More

Stayed here with three teens, thinking that a four bed room would be cheapest option in Amsterdam. I wasn't very transport savvy, so it was a real trek from the station. The room was basic, the shower hot and powerful, but not that clean. Food options in the restaurant very limited, but plenty of bars/fast food/cafes near by. The Euro... More

I stayed a few times in this hotel, clean and comfortable. The room was warm in the winter, the breakfast was great for a budget hotel, this hotel definitely is the one of the best budget hotels I have ever stay. The only thing I don't like about this hotel is late check in and if you haven't pay for the... More

I have recently returned form a weekend break to Amsterdam with 3 of my girl pals. All the hotels were booked up and majorly overpriced due to a media conference so the only place for us to stay was the Vondelpark hostel. I have never stayed at a hostel before so was a little worried about whether it would be... More

We went to Amsterdam as a college trip and therefore to keep costs at a minimum we stayed in a Hostel. On arrival there was sick in the lobby which wasnt a good start. When we arrived our rooms werent even ready and in a rush the hostel threw our room together carelessly. I would much rarther of waited for... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
