Good wifi, good location. Free breakfasts. Rooms were extremely clean and staff helpful. Location right next to Vondelpark is very nice. Common area downstairs is well equipped with sofas and vending machines. Showers were great for a hostel.

I have stayed here several times. It's perfect if you're on a small budget. Yes it's a hostel but it's by far the best run, cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. Dorms as small as 6 bed so a group of you could easily book a whole room. On the other hand I've met some great people sharing with strangers.... More

I stayed here in late July and really enjoyed my 4 day stay. Visiting Amsterdam at the height of tourist season, it was reasonably priced. pros: + location was great, right near museums. Quick bike ride to any other city center area + bike shed was secure and convenient + outlet above each bed so you can charge your phone... More

I travelled to Amsterdam on July 2015 and it was an excellent choice staying at this hostel. It is located near the main museums, the city park, the commercial center and tram stations. The staff service was very nice and helpful, the room and facilities were clean and there were many options of drinks and beers at the hostel's bar.... More

The hostel is in an excellent location: right on the gate of Vondelpark, close to Leidseplein and within walking distance of Museumplein (as well as the majority of central Amsterdam if you're willing to walk 15-25 minutes, which is worth doing. Dam Square took me about 20 minutes to get to, and it's a pleasant walk). The breakfast is better... More

I stayed there for two days with two friends and we had a pleasant stay. The staff were helpful and friendly and even managed to have me speak some Dutch, which I hadn't done in a while. The room was clean and sober. Queuing at breakfast can be a tad lengthy of you enjoy a bit of a sleep-in but... More

Amsterdam is an expensive city to stay in, and this hostel had some reasonable prices when we were staying at the height of tourist season. Still, I would recommend looking elsewhere for accommodation. My sister and I stayed three nights in a private room. A lot of reviews have said the location is great, however it should be noted that... More

Located in a former school, Stayokay Vondelpark is a large scale hostel located close to the vibrant Leidseplein. The breakfast was well above average, with cheeses, ham, cereals, fruit and eggs. Our 20 bed mixed dorm was average for a hostel of this size. The bunks weren't too squeaky, and came with an above bed light. The lack of privacy... More

Vondelpark is a lovely setting for a hostel and was only a short walk away from the action of Amsterdam. The rooms were clean however the sink was made of a material that made a lot of noise when the tap was on which wasn't ideal for a dorm room where people were sleeping at different times. The staff were... More

Stayed here this weekend just gone, location was next to a lovely park and had cycles available for hire, good local advise and maps for free. Breakfast was included in the price which was a European breakfast and pretty good. The rooms are big and spacious but all the bedding is covered in plastic so make sure you keep the... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
