My husband and I stayed at this hotel for several days in August and were very happy with the locations. It's probably less than a 5 minute walk from Musemplein and several tram stop locations, which can help greatly with navigating the city. There is also a large grocery store nearby, which was handy for buying snacks/drinks to put in... More

In honesty this hotel looks nice but it really isn't. After paying for a room with a balcony we didn't get one, and when we did finally get moved it had a ledge big enough for one person (no sitting on the balcony enjoying the sun) the floors creaked and the food was expensive. I expected more for the price.

We stayed in summer 2014 in our first visit to see how we felt about moving permanently to Amsterdam. It is located a few minutes walk from Museumplein, and about 25-30 mins walk from the centre. Trams also run in all directions from Museumplein. Albert cuyp market is about 10 minutes walk to the east, leading into the beautiful and... More

Just back from spending my 21st birthday in this hotel and absolutely loved it. Place was beautifully decorated and friendly staff who didn't bother us which for a young couple was what we were looking for. Must book deluxe room as can't imagine anything smaller but I think this is common in Amsterdam rather than it being the hotels problem.... More

This small hotel is a near perfect little city hotel. Convenient location close the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum and the Vondelpark, and good also for central Amsterdam wihin the canals, if you're prepared to walk 20 minutes. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the asian lady that seems to be the manager or owner. It feels like a... More

This hotel is 300m away from Museum Plein, so it's great located. It's built on a converted Amsterdam mansion so it's narrow, but somehow they made it work. Decor is busy but tasteful. The rooms are tiny and warm (air con is available though), so great to spent the night but you could not spend more then an hour in... More

Super small hotel with tiny rooms, but the most comfortable bed on our trip with the best air conditioning! It is impossible to shower without flooding the bathroom too. Besides that, really nice staff that spoke English and gave good recommendations. Close to the trolley system and some really cool attractions.

Rooms were nice though a tad small. The breakfast was great, staff were friendly, and the location is awesome! You're a hop and a skip from the Van Gogh Museum and a number of others. You're about 4 blocks from the shopping area too. I walked all the way to the Red Light District from there and it only took... More

Friendly reception (limited hours) and nice room. Generous space for single guest, short stay, but perhaps a bit tight for 2 persons with heavy luggage. Quiet except for very sensitive people. Nice coffee place on corner across the street, restaurants nearby, museums and RAI Conference center within walking distance (10~20 minutes); Shiphol airport busstop 5 minutes at Concertgebouw (€5 fare).

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
