My friend and I booked this hotel shortly before our stay, as it was the closest possible area to the town centre. It was a 30 minute walk to the shopping area of town, though it was nice to get to know different areas of the city. It was also right next to the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijks Museum and Van Gogh... Above the shops on a street that is considered to be Amsterdams equivalent of Rodeo Drive, a few minutes from the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh, Vondel Park & Het Concertgebouw, it's a great location, a pleasant surprise. After booking for one night I read some indifferent reviews so wasn't expecting anything too fantastic, & that's exactly what it was, a... More

Just back from Haiti after a week in Ile-a-Vache. Ended up with 2 nights in Port-au-Prince at Maxime's Boutique Hotel in Petionville. Gorgeous new place to stay, 8 rooms set in beautiful garden, very affordable. Wonderful service by the Sada family, Jihane, Maxime and Lilian (and Ti-Max). www.Maximehotel.com. Near excellent restaurants (La Plantation and Papaya), and a great wellness center... More

Booked well in advance for September. Two days before, received an email providing a door code for downstairs and room entry. Entered through a tiny, dark entrance, tiny claustrophobic lift. Room was dirty, smelled bad, air conditioning wasn't working, shower was leaking, furniture (what little there was) was scuffed, scratched and cheap. There was no brasserie downstairs: seems to have... More

This hotel is well situated in a shopping street near to Vondel park and a number of the famous galleries/museums. There is no reception desk at the hotel and you require lengthy pass codes to enter the building and your room. The pass codes did not work on my arrival which meant having to make a phone call to get... More

We didn't stay in this hotel but a few blocks away at the Conservatorium hotel where breakfast is charged at 50 Euro pp...... So we found this place to have a breakfast at a more reasonable price. Which we did. Of course not a sumptuous buffet, but a fine breakfast complete with boiled egg, cheese, ham, croissant, toast and excellent... More

My girlfriend had booked this and was worried afterwards because of the not so good reviews it was getting on here. Ok yes an unusual way to check into the hotel by going to the restaurant downstairs to gain entry to the hotel but a simple check-in to our room where everything was clean, nicely presented, in working order and... By giving this venue a 3 star rating I am being somewhat slack, in that I did enjoy my stay here with my gf, however I have to agree with a number of reviews that have highlighted a disparity in the service provided by the staff. Upon arrival, it is not made immediately obvious that you are to check in... More

Check in was at the Restaurant and we were ushered to the door and was advised to go to the 1st floor by the restaurant staff for check in. When we got there, the person sitting behind the desk was so rude and told us that check in was at the restaurant. we told him that we were instructed to... More
