The setting of this hotel is good, but it is nothing special in itself. Watch out though. They took an unauthorised sum of money from our debit card after we had left and 3 months later have failed to reply to all approaches by me and my bank to have it repaid.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May 2007. Being frequent visitors to Amsterdam (we go about 4 times a year), we have stayed in many different budget hotels there and this one was by far the best. Its located right beside a canal and we had a lovely view from our room overlooking it. There is a... More

Went with a good friend - we were only really bothered about our hotel being central as we weren't planning on spending much time in our room, so for this, Hotel Armada was perfect. Our room was small & bathroom tiny, but perfectly clean and we actually had a view of the canal, as promised in the hotel name!! So... More

If you book a budget hotel, do not expect a 5-star hotel - once you consciously realize this, then the Hotel Armada doesn't look that bad. There were some good aspects. However, there were many things I was displeased about. To start with the good - the hotel is situated in a relatively quiet part of the town, somewhat central... More

The hotel is really in quite terrible condition. The stairway up to the rooms and the carpet is really awful - huge stains everywhere. We had to book a quad (and pay for it) even though there were only two of us. There was a toenail in my bed that did NOT belong to me. The young man at the... More

Went here whilst on a stag weekend in amsterdam in mid-june. This is a good hotel to stay in for a weekend, not for longer though. Its within 15 minutes walk from everything, and has a tram stop right outside. Wasn't a big fan of the breakfast though. Best thing was our room. Had practically the whole top floor to... More

Very expensive, decayed, and TERRIBLY noisy!! Inside the room 23 there is the hotel water counter, it was ticking every second also during the night... The private bahroom and the breakfast were not so bad, but not good. Very much overpriced for only a good location!

Stayed here in May 2007. Exceptionally well placed, clean sheets and friendly reception. That's the good stuff. A lot of stairs, smoky smell, dirty carpets, filthy walls and not a sparkling bathroom plus exceptionally irritating and incompetent cleaning staff.

The location is about the only thing to commend about this hotel. It's about a 15 minute walk from Dam square, but a nice walk. Sadly the actual hotel is nowhere near as pleasant. I arrived on a friday evening and was given an ensuite room. Unfortunately this room was next to the toilet, so everytime it was used I... More

I arrived at the Hotel Armada to find a room that was dark and filthy, with peeling wall paper, water stains on the walls and ceilings, dirty carpeting, worn out mattress, and a smell that was indescribable. It was not fit for human habitation. When I informed the proprietor that I would not be staying the proprietor insisted that I... More
