Just beside the Rijks Museum, within walking distance to the Dam and also on a direct bus line to Schiphol Airport (197 to be exact), this place was definitely the right choice. It had tremendously character and had a very personal touch to it. You felt as if you were in someone house. It was so unlike the bland hotels.... More

It's worth climbing the mountain to stay here, great staff, service and amenities, nice bit of town, all clean, tidy, nice breakfast in good quantity, Wireless Internet functioned appropriately... I will be back if I can.

The accommodations are not the most comfortable I have been, however the personality, location and professionalism of its workers deserves the the 5 stars that lots of very comfortable hotels don't. The steep stairs, the apple basket at the half way letting you know there is a lot more to climb is all part of this loving place. Will be... More

Me and my girl stayed in a Wednesday and it was great. Great view, clean room, good wifi and great atmosphere. The staff was also very kind and helpful to any needs. Only thing I didn't like was the shower and toilet was shared but I would say it's worth it for the price and location. I would recommend this... More

A group of us stayed in two rooms at this hotel. Had a shock when we first arrived, there are two flights of steep stairs to get to the reception, not for the faint hearted. The room was comfortable but basic, breakfast was fine all waitress service.

If you want to be near the Museumplatz and your stay is built around these museums, there is no better location that this hotel. Our (very small) window looked out over the Rijksmuseum. A room for two is relatively cheap at 90€/night (= 45€/person) but can only be described as "monastic" - hardly room to walk in the room, with... More

Really friendly staff at this hotel, a nice breakfast that was included in the price for us, make sure you realise that the showers and toilets aren't in the rooms (shared facilities) - this is not an issue at all, they are clean and well looked after but best to realise this from the get-go. Location is great, beds are... More

PROs: 1. Location. Located right next to the Rijksmuseum, you find trams to go to the Central train station in Amsterdam and connection buses to the airport right in front of the hotel. Also it's walking distance to the city center (less than 30mins walk to the red light district) 2. Cleanliness. Although we need to share bathroom facilities, everything... More

The hotel is indeed up a very steep staircase; the room was fine; mattresses very soft but room and bath very clean; breakfast was outstanding; coffee superb and the variety of breads perfect. During our stay, I caught pneumonia, and had to go to the hospital. This is when I really appreciated the staff of this B&B. They were efficient,... More

We stayed at Hotel Museumzicht in early April 2015. We had a double room with a private bathroom/shower, and the facilities were clean and well-tended, if spartan. The staff was friendly. The included breakfast consisted of bread, a soft-boiled egg, slices of meat and cheese, and drinks. (Note, breakfast is not a buffet.) The facility has wifi, but we noted... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
