My wife and I recently stayed at Sunhead in Amsterdam... The place is situated in a very charming area on the Herrengracht (canal) in the Jordan district. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet with a view out over the canal. Although they do not provide a breakfast option any longer, the friendly hosts (Carlos & Rolff) were very... More

We just left the Sunhead. I only have extremely positive things to say about the accommodations and Roelf- Jan and Carlos. We stayed in the tulip room. Beautiful room, spotless, fantastic view and great location on a nice street. The street was quiet but also within walking distance of everything! The place is literally right around the corner from the... More

Myself and my husband have just come back from a 5 day holiday at the Sunhead of 1617 in Amsterdam. The hotel is in an ideal location, very Central but on a residential canal street so it is very quiet at night. There is a fridge in the room and the view of the canal is beautiful. 5 minutes walk... On the 2nd night of my stay, around 11.45pm, we experienced power failure in the room. We immediately checked the other units from the window and realised that Sunhead is the only one that no electricity. We waited in the room around 10 mins and hope that the owner can at least inform us what's going on. We dare not... More

Dear Jan, Thank you for your message. Sorry for the interruption of the electricity supply. This is a first occurrence in the twenty years we have this business. Until now we did not realize that our landline will not work without electricity. Indeed it is important that our guests can immediately reach us in such a situation. We now put... More

Sunhead 1617 is located right on the canal in a very central and easy to get to part of Amsterdam. We came in by train and found it easy. Our room, on the second flood, overlooking the canal, was comfortable and clean. The bathroom and shower were spotless and larger than expected. There was a Nespresso machine and teakettle en... My husband and I stayed at Sunhead of 1617 in March 2015. The traditional Dutch House is ideally situated for walking to all the major art Galleries and is in a friendly neighbourhood with plenty of Cafes, bars and restaurants. Carlos and Martyn are very helpful, advising on cafes for Breakfast and restaurants for the evening. They booked us into... More

This hotel is not only well located but on a very nice and quiet canal. The surrounding area is beautiful with good stores and restaurants nearby. The owners are very courteous and helpful if you need restaurant tips or tourist advice. The cleaning service could use some manners, she was pushy the day we were checking out, wanted us to... Dear guest from Sao Paulo, Our help is really a very nice person. She was only hurrying you because she wanted to prepare the room for the next guests. She is really a very nice person. We have known her for a very long time. She apologises for the misunderstanding. We always bring the luggages up for our guests if... More

We arrived at night so the first real impression of the country was Sunhead1617 and we can tell you it was a breath of fresh air from our room in the attic overlooking the canal to the steep windy staircase and friendly staff the whole place had a genuine Amsterdam feel without trying to hard....great value and the only thing... Location is really good. Room was lovely but unfortunately mine had no view (and I knew about it, so I was not disappointed). Bathroom was clean and had a cleaning service every morning. The only thing was the stairs (what is unavoidable in any old Dutch canal house). We were on the third floor, but Rolf kindly carried our bags... More

Great place. Old high ,narrow Dutch apartment. Room was at top and well appointed. No tv nor radio nor wifi-wonderfull! Great en suite and friendly owners who gave great restaurant and attractions advice. Book now! Downside-you have to be able to climb stairs but as long as you can go up a flight -you can cope, and it's worth it.... More
