We stayed a couple of nights at the apartment run by Ken and Vlad on the corner of Hartenstraat and Keizersgracht - what a great location! It was so central for exploring the city, either on foot or by public transport. The apartment was clean and tastefully decorated, with everything you could possibly need. All in all, Maes B&B is an address... What can I say except....I wanna go back!! We were so warmly greeted by Vlad when we arrived. We stayed in the front room on the second floor. It was like our own studio apartment. I fell in love with the oversized tub, I miss those soaks terribly and the always warm water. The location is perfect from all sights... More

Popped across to Amsterdam for a weekend of Culture (Van G. etc.) with the kids 8 and 11 and stayed in the appartment at the top of the house...up a steep winding staircase, kids loved it, a real adventure compared to the usual bland rooms you get in some of the larger hotel chains.Maes position is very good in a... We stayed at the Maes B and B in the beginning of December. Our stay was great starting with the enthusiastic welcome we received. Our room (with a spacious bathroom) was clean as was the breakfast room. Each day Vlad made us coffee and there was tea, fruit, croissants, breads, cereal, etc. There was also a refrigerator for storing wine... More

Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor I stayed a night at Maes on the 15th December. The reviews were spot on. The hosts are courteous and helpful. Maes is very comfortable and clean. It is located close to the centre - easy walking distance, and you get a very tasty continental breakfast.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
