It is difficult to fault this B & B because it is so tastefully updated and appears to be earnest in trying to please its guests. However, our room was in the basement with non-opening clerestory windows (for security) and no ventilation. A fan can provide much needed air movement. The bed was slightly sagging. The bathroom was large and... More

We had a very WEIRD experience at this hotel - we were woken up at 7AM one morning, and 5:30AM the next morning by other guests who were locked in the building, having left their keys in their rooms as instructed, but finding the front door locked from the inside (thank god it wan't a fire!!). The guests were knocking... More

In 25 years of having this business we never had a experience as this one with this group. We are grateful this group of persons were told to leave our building after staying in one of our apartments. We are not a hotel, but a small B&B with some apartments. They were totally uninterested to our check in procedure at... More

This B&B is the best solution if you're travelling with your family: the apartments are in the heart of Amsterdam in an extremely convenient position (in 5 minutes you are in Dam Square) and they are all very big -plenty of space to sleep and to store things and to move around comfortably. All of that for a very reasonable... More

We had a great experience at this B&B. Very clean! Our mattresses were a little cot-like but we slept very comfortably. We really enjoyed the additional living spaces and fully equipped kitchen we had access to. The breakfast was outstanding every morning! The location is within walking distance of the train station. Absolutely recommend and would stay again!

A very comfortable hotel (B&B) at a very good price in central Amsterdam. My daughter and I stayed at the canal location, spacious community lounge areas and large bedroom. Very comfortable bedding, beautiful bath, a very efficiently run B&B. The Digital Concierge provided by the hotel is a great bonus, will help you get home with no internet no matter... More

4 of us stayed in the yellow apart. for two nights on the second floor - it was lovely, homely comfortable and really convenient for walking around the city. It is in a very pretty part of the city, close to some great places to eat - actually we tried the Vietnamese restaurant one night and the Spanish the next... More

Beautiful, quiet B&B. Rooms are clean, modern, and very peaceful. Gorgeous central location on a canal. Living room is lovely with a beautiful view. Well appointed kitchen available for use. We even found champagne glasses. The breakfast is delicious with cheese, yoghurt, granola, fresh fruit, homemade popjes (Dutch pancakes), sweet breads, juice, coffee, tea, cappuccino, and more! Vlad was wonderful and... More

We stayed in the apartment at 20 Herenstraat. The street is so charming and full of life at night; musicians and lots of restaurants on the street. It is very close to the Jordaan district and the Anne Frank house. There were 5 of staying there and the apartment is not big, but still comfortable with a nice kitchen. Ken... More

This is the 2nd. time we have stayed at Maes B&B. The rooms are great, very large, private, beautiful house. Most wonderful breakfasts we have ever had at any B&B! The LOCATION is perfectly, located close to all attractions, canals. About a 10-12 minute walk from the train station. Vlad is a great host, very attentive, you could not ask... More

Superior and what may be Amsterdam's best kept secret. Incredible neighborhood. Outstanding views. Outside patio off of a wide open living space and equally inviting sleeping quarters. Modern and clean. Special salute to Vlad and Ken who do their best to make a visit to Amsterdam memorable and trouble free.

Staying in Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
