If you like B&B's, you'll love this place. We spent three nights at the Maes B&B in June. Funny story -- we booked the B&B without having any knowledge of the city (it sounded so great online that I just went ahead and booked it immediately), then we called our friend who lives in Amsterdam and asked her about our... We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment on Herenstraat for 3 nights in August. I would have given a 5 star review had it not been for an unfortunate incident that cut our stay short. The apartment is in a fantastic location with great restaurants and shops within a few steps. The building is a typical Amsterdam house - tall... More

The location is perfect -- a short to good walk to the sights, but in a quietly lively area itself. We had the room that looks over the garden on Herenstraat, with the funny steep steps to the upper level bath. The stairs of Amsterdam are great! The small room with twin beds was pretty and very comfortable. The owner,... More

The location of this B&B is superb. Check it out on a map and you will see that it is easy walking distance to Dam Square, Central Station, and the Jordaan neighborhood. Be advised that there is no air conditioning in the property - each room has a fan instead. It was shorts and t-shirt weather when we visited, but... More

We have been fortunate to stay 3 times at properties owned by Ken and Vlad over the past 7 years . Twice we have stayed on Herenstraat and this last time in the apartment on the Singel. The properties are beautifully updated and yet still contain the charm and architectural details of the history of the house. Sounds like the... More

This was our first trip to Amsterdam. The location is perfect. The rooms are comfortable. The beds/mattresses are not the best, but we managed fine. The breakfasts were delightful and filling. We hope to return someday.

It is difficult to fault this B & B because it is so tastefully updated and appears to be earnest in trying to please its guests. However, our room was in the basement with non-opening clerestory windows (for security) and no ventilation. A fan can provide much needed air movement. The bed was slightly sagging. The bathroom was large and... More

We had a very WEIRD experience at this hotel - we were woken up at 7AM one morning, and 5:30AM the next morning by other guests who were locked in the building, having left their keys in their rooms as instructed, but finding the front door locked from the inside (thank god it wan't a fire!!). The guests were knocking... More

In 25 years of having this business we never had a experience as this one with this group. We are grateful this group of persons were told to leave our building after staying in one of our apartments. We are not a hotel, but a small B&B with some apartments. They were totally uninterested to our check in procedure at... More

This B&B is the best solution if you're travelling with your family: the apartments are in the heart of Amsterdam in an extremely convenient position (in 5 minutes you are in Dam Square) and they are all very big -plenty of space to sleep and to store things and to move around comfortably. All of that for a very reasonable... More

We had a great experience at this B&B. Very clean! Our mattresses were a little cot-like but we slept very comfortably. We really enjoyed the additional living spaces and fully equipped kitchen we had access to. The breakfast was outstanding every morning! The location is within walking distance of the train station. Absolutely recommend and would stay again!
