Had a great stay. It was a bit on the pricier side for European hostels. Rooms were nice and clean. Hostel staff was helpful. Computers were not functioning well. The bar was certainly the happening place. Packed and nosiy until at least 2AM. I enjoyed it but it may not be for everyone. A lot of US folks around college... more

Everybody in amsterdam or who wants to go there knows flying pig.. so here is my take. It has a good downstairs bar area with lotta people (nice crowd). it is very convenient and close to the train station and all the main sites it kinda gets rowdy and noisy (this could be a + or - depending on u)... more

This place is right in the middle of downtown and very loud if you plan on sleeping. There is no hangout room except for the bar. The bathrooms and showers were all pretty dirty. We got moved to this hostel form the uptown flying pig which was under construction. Was not impressed by this hostel. more

A great place to meet other travellers. The hostel staff are friendly and helpful and always greet you with a smile. Breakfast included was a simple fare but enough to get you going. The heater died on the night we arrived but was promptly fixed. We stayed in a private ensuite room, it wasn't flash but it did the job. more

The Flying Pig is in a really great spot. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm and it was clean and alright to sleep in. Shower rooms outside the room (rather than just 1 in it) would cut down waiting about for your turn, but not a massive deal. Perhaps not as cheap as it could be but the breakfast... more

Absolutely loved it here! i've been and stayed twice now, and both times its been great with the staff just being fantastic and so helpful... the breakfast is great, you can literally help yourself to a variety of cereals, breads, toasts and pastries and then have a tea coffee etc with it. for the amount you pay per night it... more

Only stayed one night here went passing through Amsterdam, and chose not to stay here again on my way back through Amsterdam. It's fine for what it is: a youth hostel full of pot smokers. This hostel is right in the mix of downtown. There is no privacy but you can't really expect that in this sort of hostel. There is a raised plateform for trying various coffee shop items with friends. They give you board games to play and make friends with. I couldn't give it any higher marks. There were 6 of us (5 guys and me...the only girl). We had a 6 person dorm and our own bathroom and shower. We spent about a week there and had a great time. We met wonderful people and the experience was fantastic. The people that work at the Pig are very cool as well. Very easy to get to... more
