The property is a converted bank with a unique layout. The central lobby area is "atrium style" with large open lounge areas and dining. The Van Gogh and Richt Museums are an easy walk as are coffee shops and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are small for US standards but well appointed with a modern... The superior room we initially booked turned out to be a cramped duplex with narrow steps leading to the loft bedroom. The bathroom was downstairs. Unacceptable! We upgraded at add'l cost to a much nicer room whose only flaws were limited closet space and incomprehensible high-tech electronic controls.

What a fantastic hotel with nice, nice staff. The rooms are cool with every imaginable amenity. Central location and fantastic historic, modern renovation. Breakfast is outstanding, and the best aspect of this perfect venue are the PEOPLE. EtTAN SELA, our host/concierge knows every historic and cool venue in this friendly city. When he talks-venues listen with immediate access. We fell... More

Excellent, if you wish to be spoiled as we are in room 326. Can't say enough about the wonderful, and engaging staff, great service and personable. Large rooms, bathrooms and interior space have superior finishing touches throughout. Great location too, love the vibe of this hotel and city. A must!

Everything about our experience at the Conservatorium Hotel was wonderful. The staff were wonderful as was the clever design and architecture of this historic building turned luxury hotel property. each of the little touches made us feel welcome after a long day of travel and tour. This is our new Amsterdam home when we next return.

This stylish hotel is ideally placed for exploring the excellent Van Gogh, Stedelijk and Rijks museums. The imposing traditional redbrick exterior has a glass courtyard, and modern decor of dark glass , tiles and pictures which won it the best European hotel design in 2014. We stayed in a duplex with huge window view over van Baerlstraat, state of the... More

The location of this hotel is excellent for families. It is right next to the Van Gogh museum and down the street from the Rijksmuseum. The #2 and #5 tram stops right in front of the hotel so it is easy to get to the center of town. This is a great place to stay without being in the craziness... More

The hotel is in the middle of the museum quarter (MuseumPlein), right across the Stedelijk (Contemporary) museum and Van Gogh museum and just 2-3 minutes walk form the Reiksmuseum. Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
