We stayed at the Bulldog Hotel/ Hostel on our first trip to Amsterdam in March of this year. We stayed 4 days, had we stayed 5 the last night would have been free. Unfortunately, we could not extend our trip, but swore we would return to reap the reward of staying the fifth night. And indeed we did. We made... More

It was a really nice hostel. Clean and quiet. I had a private room with a friend, so I'm not sure how the dorms were. They had a TV in the room which was nice. They also have a bar/lounge downstairs which is really nice to go and chill in. The lobby/lounge was thick with pot smoke, but the rooms... More

The Bulldog has pros & cons. The positives are that it is centrally located; reasonably priced; the room, towels and linens were clean; they provide shampoo & soap; they will hold your bags both before check in and when you check out at no charge and basic breakfast was included. We had an apartment which was large, it had fridge;... More

I believe The Bulldog is a great place to stay depending on your intentions, of course, since apart from being a hostel, it is the most famous and first Coffee Shop of Amsterdam. I wouldn’t recommend this place to a family with children of course, but if you're looking for a funny time it will do perfect! Its location is... More

I first stayed at the Bulldog in 1999 and things have definitely improved since then. The Lobby area is now welcoming, the coffeshop has been spruced up and there's more amenities. We stayed in the apartments which were just average. On our arrival at the hotel, the staff were really rude and threatened not to proceed with our booking because... More

The Bulldog was on the fringe of the Red Light District but it was still secure because there was a security guard at the entrance door and only guests were allowed into the hotel area. I stayed in a double private room for 2 nights on the first floor which was quiet. Some of the staff were 'interesting' as smoking... More

We went on a little boys-only trip to Amsterdam for the weekend, and we had pre-booked a room for three @ The Bulldog hotel, mainly because they've got their own coffeeshops - don't remember finding any other ho(s)tels where you can smoke in their lounge/bar... Another great thing was that the bar is open 24/7... no worries of getting home... More

we stayed at the bulldog right next to the red light district for two nights. very safe. security in the evening only allowed guests into the hotel/hostel. stayed in a private room, not the dorm room setting. perfect size. clean bathroom with plenty of towels and provided disposable shower shoes if you wanted to use them. the included breakfast buffet... After deciding not to stay at our prebooked accomodation for the 2nd night (because of its location) we were left wondering the streets of Amsterdam looking for an affordable hostel. We walked into a few places and they were all over charging us, it was a saturday and they were saying we had to pay for sunday as well (weekend... More
