We spent 4 days here in February 2014. I mailed ahead to say we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the hotel presented us with a bottle of bubbly and a card, which was a nice touch. Perfect location for tram stops (get a daily pass if you want to hop on and off a lot across town). Zoo is a... More

This hotel was a bit disappointing as the reviews were full of praise for it. On the plus side, location was quite good and a number 9 tram from the street outside was great for transport in and out of Amsterdam. We got a room at the back which was extremely quiet - ensuring a great nights sleep. The room... More

Lovely little hotel in a nice quiet neighbourhood in Amsterdam - 30 minute walk from the central station but two trams stop right outside. 10 minute pleasant walk to the centre of Amsterdam. I stayed here for three nights in April and would have no problem in recommending this hotel. Very good value for money, ideal location right next to... More

I booked the Hotel Rembrandt at the very last minute, for a price reasonable for Amsterdam. The location is great and one can reach all major attractions from the Hotel. Spacious, clean room, just a bit noisy. Reception staff was very helpful and cheerful. I will most likely book again.

This hotel is in a great location within easy reach to all attractions, botanical gardens across the road and Artis Zoo just around the corner, five minute walk to Rembrandt Square or tram 9 & 14 stop outside hotel and take you to most tourist attractions including Dam Square & Anne Franks House. Clean basic room with double doors leading... More

I'll start with the good, and move on to the bad. As others have said, it's right next to the tram, so very convenient. There are also some nice cafes and restaurants in the immediate area (I can recommend Coffee to Walk just down the road for a lovely and cheap breakfast). Although I had booked a single room, I... I chose this hotel for a 2 day break with my daughter to celebrate her 21st. I wanted somewhere quirky and a bit different that would appeal to her. It didn't disappoint! Our room was lovey with The Nightwatch as a backdrop, even better I took her to see the real thing at the Rijksmuseum! The staff were friendly and... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
