Stayed here in December. Right beside the zoo and a ten minute walk down to Rembrandt square. Nice area that is just outside the busy areas so gets nice a quiet on the walk back. Tram right outside the door (number 9) that you can get from central station. So very easy to get to. Hotel itself is overpriced like... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your lovely review, good to read you have enjoyed your stay. The reason we ask our guests to leave the key at the reception is for safety, however we do apologize this felt intrusive. We hope to welcome you again in our hotel some time. Kind regards, Lynn More

Okay - - - this is NOT for the parvenu but the seasoned traveller who requires: (1) clean setting (2) comfortable bed (an absolute must) (3) friendly staff/owner (4) a great breakfast (5) thoughtful staff (6) helpful owners with laundry, etc. if this is all you need then this is heaven. We loved it - - - especially the room with... More

Our first time in Amsterdam, so I'm not sure if these issues we had are due to the city itself. We were travelling with a 4 months old, we had to leave the pram on ground floor so always had to hold the baby in arms, we were sent to a room 2 floors underground the first day. It was... More

This is NOT a trendy or fashionable hotel - - - it is clean, wonderful bathrooms (so nice if you are an American in Europe) - - - the breakfasts are most ample and filling. The owner and her daughter are wonderful, as are the rest of the folks. Most convenient to the tourist areas, there are a few outstanding... More

Stayed for three nights in a single room. Got a very small room on the top floor which looked nothing like the pictures on the hotel web-site. Ugly colors, holes in the wall, a metal cupboard which could have been used in a 1950s factory changing room and a cheap metal bed. I could have lived with this, but not... More

Despite being a budget hotel, it was a cosy and warm place to stay. Bed is clean and wifi is strong. The place is strategically accessible to town with tram just a stone throw outside the entrance. They serve the same breakfast every day but it was tasty and served hot. Will definitely come back again.

Super comfortable beds and duvets, friendly staff, books in the main room, fresh and delicious breakfast with unlimited coffee (10 euros for adults, 5 for kids), free stocked mini bar (what a great idea!). Well located near the Zoo and Plantage, but 20 minute walk from main attractions (very easy tram stop right in front of hotel). Quiet, charming, wifi.... More

The hotel is located not far from the very city center, and that can definitely be a plus if you're looking for a quiet and peaceful area, away from the often noisy and crowded tourist spots. It looks good estethically, clean and tidy due to daily cleansing, it has a tram stop ( 9 and 14) and a night bus... More

Helpful Staff, clean room with clean linens. Size ok for 4 single beds, free wifi, minibar free for drinks. Bathroom small but fine for a 4 days trip, shower very good. Would definitely stay again, good price for family or friends. Nice Rembrandt decor!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
