Great location in the museum district. Close to public transportation. Traditional dutch building with steep and narrow stairs. No air conditioning. Simple but filling breakfast. The Poet offered us what we needed for a long weekend in Amsterdam when we spent most of our time sightseeing.

Had a lovely stay at The Poet Hotel in Amsterdam. Staff were brilliant and very helpful. Thought it was going to be a bit far out from the centre, but then found we were just around the corner from the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum and Vondel Park. An easy tram ride into the centre. Plenty of places to go... More

This was booked without doing much research, and with the knowledge that we could take a chance for just one night (in transit from ship to plane home). We wanted something centrally located, with some character, and the property certainly delivered. We arrived several hours early, but the desk manager was not disturbed in the least! Although a room was... More

We spent there 2 nights before Christmas, the rooms are quite tight, but very clean. The elevator is old and it didn't work once, so we had to take the stairs which were very tight as well, a bit difficult climbing. Also, to enter the hotel you need to climb sone steps, not at all wheelchair friendly. The breakfast was... More

Super location close to Rijksmuseum, quiet street, hotel has great curb appeal. The staff are very helpful and professional. Try to overlook the dingy dark brown lobby and corridors - once inside, the rooms are white and simply furnished but the single beds are comfy and warm. Compact bathrooms and showers, but everything worked. We liked the breakfast buffet and... More

This was mine and my boyfriends first trip away together for our anniversary and we couldn't have picked a lovelier little hotel for the price and location. As it is Dutch it is of course narrow and tall, so the stairs are steep (there IS a lift but it isn't obvious so make sure you ask if you don't see... More

We(me, my partner and another couple) stayed 2 weeks ago for 2 nights. The rooms were fine and comfy, breakfast was good and not really any complaints. If you want somewhere away from the centre and in one of the nicer neighbourhoods of the city, certainly worth a look!

If you're staying at this hotel the best advice I can give is if your arriving by train into central station just jump on a tram. The number 2 or 5 an get off at the diamond museum. Its the next street over. The hotel itself is a really nice relaxed place to be an I believe good value for... More
