We stayed in an 8 bed dorm on the top floor of the building next to The Doors bar. We couldn't get wifi in there but wasn't a problem as you could sit in the lounge in the other building if you needed it. Only 2 plug sockets between 8 though in one room which was a bit of a... More

Stayed there because of the location and price. The staff wasn't really friendly, the wifi was very bad. There is no kitchen!!!! This really disappointed me, it's one thing that makes you spend much more than you expected.

This is what you want. A nice big common room with a dingy feel; very popular hangout with many sociable people and really friendly staff. All sorts of information readily available, drinks served till late and a good solid breakfast in the mornings. The rooms were clean and tidy and the dorms were conducive to a good bit of socialising!... More

Stayed in Bob's Youth Hostel in Summer 2015 with two friends, we started our journey in Amsterdam, (this was the first time any of us had been in a hostel) so we wern't sure what to expect. I would recommend this hostel to anyone, especially younger travellers who want to get good value for money and location. It's a good... More

I get it, it's a hostel. I've stayed in lots of them. But this place seemed like quite a dive. No hand soap at the sink, the separate buildings made me feel a little disconnected from the common areas, there were also quite a lot of older guests, despite the age restrictions. On a better note, the staff was super... More

This was the only hotel/hostel I stayed in during my trip to Europe, as the rest were done through AirBnb or couchsurfing, so I can’t really compare this place to others. The location of this hostel is perfect, right in the middle of everything and it was only a short walk to get anywhere. The only downside to that is... More

I went to Amsterdam with a friend during 3 days in the end of September. The hostel is ok, not the best, but not the worst. Cleaning is done every day. Until 10am they offer coffee and milk to the residents. It's well located, 5-10min walking from the train station, and also walking distance from Dam Square and all the... More

Booked this originally for 2 nights and luckily cancelled 1 night last minute. Stayed in a mixed dorm where the bathroom flooded, no soap, no towel racks or hangers, barely any power points in the room. They only had power points near the bathroom. Ive been to many hostels and this is definitely a hole compared to most places in... More

I have spent 4 days at Bob's with several friends. I have to say that the location of the hostel is great if you want to discover the city center and main tourist attractions. The hotel itself is what you would expect from a youth hostel, packed and noisy but clean. The sleeping conditions were all right. The breakfast in... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
