It's in the perfect location, a short walk from the central station and you step out the apartment door onto a beautiful canal. The rooms are fabulously decorated, the beds are super comfy and the shower is great even the shampoo. Will highly recommend to my friends. The only downside was being English we like a kettle in the room.

The location was perfect, beautiful view from the canal view bedroom, although uncomfortable small. I understand the hotel is based in a traditional dutch house so I expected it to be small but I felt I paid too much for what it was. The breakfast provided was nice, although again, the breakfast area was far too small, I felt uncomfortable... More

Dear Fern H, Thank you for taking the time to review Max Brown. It's true, we are a small hotel since we are situated in 3 historical buildings. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to change our space. Did you mention your issues to our staff while you stayed with us? We always try to fix whatever we can.... More

In March 2015 we visited Amsterdam & stayed at Max Brown Hotel. The view was fantastic & generally the room was very nice, quite, warm decor. The only drawback was breakfast, which was rather "poor" for such a hotel. The location is very convenient 8-10 minutes ( walking distance) from Central station and a bit more to get to Dam square.... More

Dear Aphrodite G, Thank you for your review. We take away your tip to inform guests upfront about tourist tax (a common thing in every city, but still thank you!). Regarding the breakfast; we offer fresh and indeed basic and also FOR FREE! Hpoe to welcome you again soon. Best regards, Ruth de Groot Hotel Manager More

We recently stayed here Sunday to Wednesday in a superior delux room with canal view. It was lovely. Chose it as wanted to experience a more traditional environment than a big chain hotel. It is unique and a bit quirky and well worth it if you are into this. The staff are great and really helpful. Can't comment on other... More

I spent 2 nights here in connection with a conference. The organizers had asked that I be put in room on a upper floor and i was placed in a ground floor room. That did not bother me much. The ants in the room were a bother. And the bathroom could have been a lot cleaner than it was. The... More

We stayed for a week in March. The room in uppermost floor with a canal view was comfortable and relaxing with lovely bed and silky smooth bed linen. We especially liked the wall decoration with old wooden planks and the accompanying bathroom was very trendy with shiny black tiles. We had the most wonderful view over the canal (asked for... More

This little hotel is amazing! The ladies at the front desk are so friendly, willing to help you and try to make sure that you feel comfortable. The front desk doesn't even look like a regular reception - it looks like a bar or a coffee shop. Breakfast was nice, there were pastries, charcuterie, cheese, jam, espresso machine, juices. Location... More

Hotel is in a great location, in short walking distance from Centraal Station and easy to walk to 9 Straatjes and the Red Light District. The room was very nice and clean, bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It was also good to have free wifi. As a lot of other people have mentioned the stairs... More

Great hotel located very close to the train station in Amsterdam. The rooms are small and stylish. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There's a couple of comfy sofas to hang out on with a beer by the bar which is generally pretty quiet, nice to unwind after a day walking/cycling around town. Breakfast is pretty basic but nice.... No better place to stay in Amsterdam...Great location, service and staff. I would highly recommend. Peaceful Herengraght Canal stay and yet very close to lots of fun on nearby Haarlemstrat. I stayed when this Hotel was the Chic and Basic and I didn't think it could be better, but surprisingly was even better.
