Nothing negative to say, other than the stairs.... Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean, lovely decor, perfect location for visiting Amsterdam. I would stay in this hotel again if I return. As a solo visitor I felt very much at ease.

We have spent four nights at The Max Brown, when we booked we were a unsure if the price matched the reviews. For a low cost stay ypu receive fantastic customer service, clean rooms and a quiet retreat. Its close enough walk to central station and the centre but far enough away to be away from noise. Would highly recommend... More

6 of us stayed here from the 20th to the 23rd of December. 3 couples. 4 of us stayed in the main part of the hotel and the other couple in the adjoining part. Our room was amazing it had the bedroom with one of the comfiest beds I've slept in and a corner snug. you then went downstairs to... More

My Sister and I stayed here for a very short, 2-night stay just to ponder around the city. The hotel is quirky, friendly, perfectly located and friendly. The staff are helpful, the hotel is clean and beautifully decorated, the hotel is a few minutes strolling from the main centre, but not busy at all - along a peaceful canal. Would... More

From the website I was very excited about staying in this hotel. It looked quirky and was def the way I wanted to explore Amsterdam. The reception was fine but when I was put in my room i soon realised that the hotel wasn't as great as the images and reviews flying about the internet. My tiny room made it... More

The hotel is located on one of the city's classic canals, the Herengracht, which is on the canal cruise route. The hotel is within easy reach of the many attractions, and an easy walk from the Station. The staff members were helpful from the start ; when we checked in early and left our bags, they'd been taken to our... More

My partner and I visited Amsterdam in April/May 2014 on our honeymoon. The city we loved but unfortunately the hotel did not live up to expectation. We booked it based on the quirky pictures and the fact we could 'upgrade' to a canal view suite for minimal fuss/expense. When we arrived staff were friendly-ish but not very helpful with our... The hotel has its rooms in traditional amsterdams houses! We stayed at the last floor of the canals side and the view was like a dream!Wonderful modern room and bathroom! The staff was wonderful and kind! The negative thing is the breakfast which is unbelievable poor!!!!The location is perfect because its on a beautifull canal junction, very near the amsterdam's central train station and... I really liked the Max Brown Hotel. Top location, looked lovely, friendly & helpful staff, nice bar area, good breakfast on offer. But don't go for a standard room. A bit too small. Room 101 was tiny, plus the walls weren't very thick so could sometimes hear people walking up & down the (steep) stairs. Even though it was small... More

Me & my girlfriend wanted to visit Amsterdam for NYE again this year (did it 2 years ago) and thought we'd give this place a go as it was in a good location, reasonably priced and had good reviews on here. Previously we had stayed in the Hilton DoubleTree and thought that was good but this was far better! Upon... More
