The hotel is nicely situated, the personnel is very nice, the rooms are not big but neat and tidy. The hotel is unusual for it's old-style trains decorations, toy-trains everywhere, maps and photos. We booked a twin-room (actually we found this hotel occasionally and that was the right choice). Local people say that before booking you should check sites like... More

We visited here end of Jan to beginning of Feb. Staff are very friendly and speak brilliant English. Our room was basic but what can we expect for what we paid (we had somewhere to sleep and shower; we don't need to stay in our room), we still had access to tv, free wifi, unlimited free cold water, decent filling... Beware room 401 its a single sized room with a double bed. We were very disappointed but the manager moved us to a proper sized double as soon as he could. The staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was included and you could have as much as you like. Hotel is central and you can walk to all... More

only since I returned to Amsterdam and stayed in a different hotel did I realise that me and four other friends where ripped off by the man on reception at check in. We booked the loft room for five and where each charged 20 euros city tax each! unknowingly we paid the money. The next time I visited Amsterdam in... More

Located near the station, within easy walking distance to everything in the city and canal cruises available right across the road. Room was very clean, spacious, comfortable bed with nice pillow and a high standard bathroom. Panoramic views overlooking the station though a lot of noise from outside this can't be avoided really. For an en-suite room, with breakfast in... More

I read a lot of comments on here before going that the staff were very unfriendly but they were actually lovely and had lots of time for us! It was a lovely stay with great facilities! Great theme! Defiantly recommend it for anyone looking for a great place to stay, right opposite the train station and central to everything!

If you want luxury, go someplace else! I can't stress this enough. A-Train is not for a fussy person. My room was super basic and not terribly comfortable. The bathroom reminded me a bit of military barracks. Just the basics with no special amenities. You won't find cute little soaps or shower caps here. Now for the good stuff: the... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
