During my stay here staff would clean my room in the afternoon, which really suited me because I like to wake up late while on holiday. This could be because reception staff knew when I was in or out of the hotel or just their schedule - either way I was happy with this arrangement. I slept very well, having... More

Unfortunately we arrived in Amsterdam on the hottest day the city had ever experienced, so choosing an un-air-conditioned hotel was probably a mistake! It's kind of cute, in a run-down way, and certainly very well-located if you're arriving by train. However, though over-looking the railway square is interesting, it is VERY NOISY, especially when you have to keep the windows... More

I don't usually write reviews but this hotel was such a nice place to stay for a very reasonable amount of money that I thought it deserved a good write up. The hotel is very centrally located and just across the main street from Amsterdam Centraal railway station, so easy to find. Once inside there is a great deal of... More

Literally a stones throw away from Amsterdam Central train station. Really friendly staff, a comfortable bed and fantastic wet room showers. The rooms are abit basic but you are in Amsterdam and a room is somewhere to rest your head. Cannot comment on the breakfast as never tried it but looked the usual continental fare. Overall I have no complaints... More

Stayed in room 216. Room had two twin bed that were very comfortable. Hotel was kept very clean and was very quiet at all times. The room has a safe for your valuables. Over all I would recommend this hotel. No frills hotel that is close to most attractions and sites.

This hotel is perfect for a stay in Amsterdam. It is in the heart of the city and the staff are friendly and the room is comfortable also. I have been back there several times and would highly recommend the A-Train.

The A-Train is centrally located for travelers looking for an easy access to the heart of Amsterdam. The rooms are comfortable and staff is what other hotels wish they had... knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast offerings are quite tasty and fresh with something for everyone on offer. This is the only hotel I stay at when I travel... More

Location is very close to the train station. Although not necessary the most beautiful neighborhood, it is quite convenient. There's also a big parking lot across the street but be careful since it is quite expensive. Book the room with the little beds on the attic if traveling with the family. The kids will love it. Don't be fool by... More

To be fair this was not the worse hotel I've stayed at. And they were accommodating with my reservation and payment getting messed up a few times (my error). It gives you the feel of being back (way back) in time. Not a lot of smiles and at check in I felt a little like I was annoying the fellow.... More

Me and my family (a group of 5) really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The opa and the oma working at the hotel were super friendly and attentive! It was also in a walking distance from the main touristic place in Amsterdam (e.g. Anne Frankhuis, Madurodam, etc) We booked the biggest room available which was The Apartment. It was... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
