My wife and I loved our time in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, however, we paid $115 euros per night for a private room at the Bicycle Hotel--a room that was equivalent to that normally found at a hostel that would charge half that amount. There was no room service whatsoever, no decor whatsoever, old/thin towels, a tiny television from the 80's, and... More

Unfortunately, for Amsterdam in July, $US75 is "low-budget" for a hotel. Check all websites. I found a better rate on booking.com when I searched. Read the Pros and Cons, then decide if this place is for you: Hotel - Pros: I stayed in the main building. Quiet to a fault at night! No street noise, no guest noise. I was... More

We stayed in the bicycle hotel for 4 nights over the weekend of Queensday. The guy who ran the hotel was really friendly and helpful, and provided us with a good map. Even though we got there quite early our room was ready so we could check in. We'd booked a double room, but were actually in an apartment which... More

Bicycle Hotel was a great, out of the centre base if your planning on being out for most of the day! I booked through a hostel company so I wasn't expecting much, however when we got there I was pleasently suprised! The comunal space was clean and inviting and the staff were superb. There was free internet access within the... More

Having looked at a lot of reviews for budget hotels in Amsterdam and seeing that most of them are abysmal, we found the Bicycle Hotel to be perfectly sufficient. Finding it was difficult, in large part because we missed our tram stop, but once you're a block away you can't miss it, thanks to the bicycles bolted to the 2nd... More

This was our first stop during our 3-week long Europe trip. It has a great location near transit, and is also a short walk from the 'Daily Market' on Albert Cuypstraat - a convenient place to get cheap souvenirs. The van Gogh/Rijks/Stedelijk museums are about a 15 minute walk, and you'll want to take transit to the train station/flower market/Anne... More

Our flat "the apartment" across the street, was awesome. It was clean, large and comfortable and we really liked staying in De Pijp. Bicycle Hotel staff were very nice!! Especially the girl that let us have breakfast when we came down late, we didn't have our clock set properly and we were an hour off! Also, the guy that rented... More

The pros: The hotel is nice, near a Tram Station, a supermaket. and many restaurants. The breakfast is quite decent, and the staff is really nice, in fact they are the best feature of this hotel. You have two computers with internet acces to use for free. Reasonable price in Amsterdam. The cons: Don't expect any cleaning service while you... More

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
