Very nice stay. Room was small but pleasant. Very helpful people at the front desk. One minor complaint - there was only one choice of jam spread for the bread rolls at breakfast - I am not counting honey and nutella as jams. Became a bit tedious after two weeks. A few additional spread choices would have been very welcome.... More

On a recent visit to Amsterdam, I chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor assessments and was not disappointed, Brilliantly located for the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum which are just minutes away. It is also close to the Concert Hall and Stedlijk Museum and handy for trams and connections by bus to the airport. Whilst the rooms are not large,... More

We stayed for five days and every day was a delight. Our room, #3, had a small porch on the street that we enjoyed. Breakfast was varied and we enjoyed making our cappuccino and latte with the automatic machine. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. A short walk to most places and less than two... More

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights in May. The Amsterdam Airport Express (Bus 197; 5 euros per person) takes you here in 30 min. It leaves from the front of Schiphol. We got off at Rijksmuseum stop and were only 2 blocks from the hotel. (It's good to have a map in advance.) To me the best thing... More

Great small hotel in a fabulous location, breakfast included great value for money. Tram stop at he end of the street, helpful staff and reasonable breakfast (nothing fancy but very practical) they even offer a take away snack bag from the breakfast buffet for your day out at no extra charge

Nice hotel in the Museum area of the city. Quiet place and very friendly staff. Nice breakfast also. Really close to very exclusive shopping streets. Restaurants and cafes found nearby also. Nice experience. Free WI-FI!!

Our room was little but cosy and there was everything we needed - even small balcony with decorated iron railing and outside beautiful trees full of flowers! (We live little bit upper north, so in AMS was much greener). We did not come to Amsterdam to spent time in hotel - it was a place to sleep, shower and rest... More

For ~200€ (which was on the low end in this hotel) we got a room that was literally the size of a bed and nothing more. Tiny shower, tiny room, not even a place to open a suitcase. We expected more for this price. The room was clean though, and the service was quite good. Maybe they have better rooms.... More

The Hotel Aalders was a perfect location for the itinerary we had planned in Amsterdam. The close walk to the museums assured you could get there at opening hours to beat the crowds. Everything else was accessible with the tram. I would advise buying a tram pass for the number of days you are there. You can purchase at the... More

We recently spent 3 nights at the hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms that accommodated our family of 4... Large room with 4 beds. Small bathroom (we expected that), but no problems accommodating the family (2 teenagers + mom and dad) We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The location of the hotel is extremely convenient in relationship... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
