This was the perfect base for our week in Amsterdam - close to the biggest museums and the park, and a 20 minute walk from the centre. We received a very friendly, multilingual welcome - particular thanks to Gilberto for his help and advice - and our teenage children loved the relaxed atmosphere (and wifi). The abundant breakfast set us... More

From the moment we entered the warm welcoming lobby we felt we could relax. We weren't disappointed. Our room was excellent, breakfast had good variety, ambience was A1 but the staff surpassed even these top gradings. They went over and beyond in trying to help us sort out our on going plans. Thank you. We will be back. Oh yes the hotel... More

Had a bit of a EuroTrip this year - drove across from the UK via the channel tunnel through Belgium, Netherlands, Germany then Poland and back. Main requirement was a dog friendly hotel and this certainly fits the bill - they talk about their own dog - Bleecker - on the web site and make it clear your dog is... More

Hoteldog Bleecker says thank you for the nice review and he hopes to meet your German Shepard next time you stay with us. He agrees that Amsterdam in general is very dog friendly and he also loves walking in the Vondelpark, especially during BBQ and picknick season... More

A neighborhood magnolia was one of the best little hotel I have stayed in. It's close to Vondelpark and boutique stores and lots of cafes. The personnel is very friendly and knowledged. inwould recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam and wants to stay away from the touristy hotels and crowd!

- rooms on top floor are smug, too hot, too small. - rooms on top floor are dangerous if you have problems walking stairs. - I still cannot believe the guy on the phone gave me a room on the top floor. I explicitly told him I have trouble walking. I am not suitable walking stairs, especially the steep stairs... More

We are very sorry to read your comment as we really do our utmost to make sure every guest get's the most suitable room upon arrival. With respect to your remark on the rooms at the top floor, they can indeed be hot during those very rare tropical summer days in Holland. For those occasions we provide a fan and... More

Comfortable, simple, functional, well located, very clean, well priced, indeed, the staff is worderful likeable and nice. Near the hotel there are very good restaurants, the tram and bus pass by closed the hotel, and also airport transfer. It is possible to rent a bike and enjoy Amsterdam. The hotel is closed to the most important museum, ans there a beautiful... More

This hotel has a great, young vibe. The hotel is doing a really good job of filling a niche between hostel and formal hotel. The rooms are private and have private bathrooms, but there is also a great common area. I stayed here for just one night after a bike tour in the Netherlands. It was perfect for my needs.... More

I loved everything about this hotel.....the friendly and efficient staff, my room, the location, the breakfast! My room was downstairs at the back of the hotel (Room 2) and had a pretty, shared (with one other room) terrace area. It was large (double) and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and the ensuite was lovely. There was... More

Hi Liz, Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and felt a home while travelling alone. We do make a point out of making sure that solo travellers feel safe, that's very important, always, anywhere. Rooms in the back are indeed quiet. For solo travellers on a smaller budget we do have however single rooms facing the front of... More

We visited this hotel exactly a year earlier, I am pleased to say that its still a lovely gem of a hotel! We booked two single rooms which were on the first floor over looking the street. The rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. The double glazing helped to keep the tram noises at bay! My bed was perfect and... More

This place rocks! Even the reception area is cool. We were met by the delightful Tessa, whose desk is the breakfast bar in the kitchen! Great location in the Museum district with handy access to the tram network. Our room was fantastic - large and with our own access to a private garden outside. Wow. Would thoroughly recommend this place... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
