We stayed in a twin room at Fita Hotel in early september for 3 nights, after a few days in London, where we stayed in a chain hotel. We found this hotel very nice for many reasons. First, the location. We enjoyed walking to Leidsplein every day either to eat, sightseeing or shopping. Second, the room. The beds were very... More

Friendly staff, friendly owners. The breakfast was great in the morning, more varied and larger than many other options. I was running the Half-Marathon and found the location near enough to the Stadium to walk, but also near enough to the central sights to also walk downtown as well . . . . . so I did a lot of... This is the first time I have ever written a review for ANYTHING online so trust me when I say that you will be thoroughly impressed with your stay at Hotel Fita. I stumbled upon this hotel while searching for a comfortable, quaint and reasonably priced place to stay during my trip to Amsterdam. The hotel profile online fit the... More

M and C from San Mateo, CA We just returned from a 5-night stay at the Hotel Fita in Amsterdam. The location, near the Van Gogh Museum (quiet, safe, on public transportation), the helpful owners and hotel staff, the breakfast buffet with fresh squeezed orange juice and all the other perks (free international calls, free internet, free laundry service, small... My wife and I stayed at Hotel Fita for three nights. As many have said, the hotel is in an excellent location and many sights are within walking distance. Our room was on the ground floor and was very spacious. We found our room clean and tidy and the owners very hospitable. We thought Hans had a very good breakfast,... More

My husband and I had one of the large rooms with a little sitting area that looks out over the schoolyard across the street. We had a king-size bed with two twin-sized duvets beneath a king-size bedspread--not standard U.S. practice. But based on our experiences during the previous two weeks driving around Germany and Switzerland, putting two twin-sized duvets on... More

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. After reading the reviews a few months ago I booked us there for only two nights. This is the only time Trip Advisor was wrong. I think the review before that last hit it right. The WIFE has a real attitude when you question her about anything.. I was told... More

I had a problem at this hotel. The husband and wife team that run this hotel seem like nice people, but try to complain, and they go on the attack, and they are vicious and relentless. Be warned. I expect to be harassed because I am posting this review. The following is a true account of what happened to me.... More

I had booked this after seeing very favourable rooms on Trip Advisor and after ensuring that it had a lift. The hotel is well situated near to the Van Gaertestraat tram stop on the number 2 and number 5 tram lines, which is also slap bang in the heart of the Museum district with Rijks and Van Gogh almost on... Stayed at Hotel Fita 5 nights and had an excellent stay. Our room was spacious and immaculate. It had the feel of a bed and breakfast, warm and friendly. The owners were helpful and available with useful information about their fine city. It is a great location for the art museums and the tram is literally right down the street!

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
