We enjoyed staying at Hotel Fita very much. It was very close to the Museum District and very convenient to public transportation. It was about 10-15 minutes to Dam Square and we enjoyed seeing the city while en route to downtown. We walked to the canal boat tours. The breakfast was very good and the waffles were a special treat... More

Couldn't have picked a better hotel for our needs. My husband and I spend 4 nights in Amsterdam and the location of this hotel made it so easy for us to get everything done. It rained almost our entire stay and it was so easy to come back to the hotel for a change of clothes once we got soak... More

This is a small hotel located about two blocks from the the Museum district. It is also located within walking of most of the main areas in Amsterdam and very close to the trolley stations. It is located on a very quiet street (almost an alley) one block off the main streets. The hotel is run by a local family... More

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay there last weekend. The room was very nice, and excellent location (1-2 blocks form Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum) with easy connection to tram/bus system. Everything worked, and the breakfast was excellent. But the best part was the staff. They really care about their guests. They are cheerful and helpful. Not cheap,... More

I was really impressed with this hotel. The staff are very helpful and there are many amenities. The hotel and staff are very attentive to details. You can get fast pass tickets for the Rijsmuseum and Van Gogh. Nothing for Anne Frank though, you need to emerge those tickets online at least three months (probably more) in advance. There is... This hotel is more like a bed and breakfast or a boutique hotel. The hotel can only accommodate 40 people or so. I was on the top floor. My room was spacious and clean. You need to be very, very careful going up and down the stairs because they are very narrow. The hotel was in walking distance of the... More

I stayed at the Hotel Fita for six nights in room 28 on the second floor. It was a perfect size for one person. The space included a desk and chair, bed, armoire, nightstand, coffee maker and electric kettle. The hotel is located in the museum district. It is well situated near the museums, concert hall, Vondelpark and many restaurants.... More

Hotel Fita is a true find. Our room was large, quiet and clean. The hotel offers a full breakfast (European and American) which includes Dutch pancakes that are made by the staff every morning. The hotel also offers free laundry service! Lastly, the proprietors are attentive and helpful. But as great as the hotel is, the location is even better.... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
