This was my third stay at the Hotel Fita - the second one under the new management of Roel and has fabulous team. He was not there this time but left us in the most capable care of his father and the team! I cannot rave enough about the hotel, how fabulous they all are there, and how cool the... More

Very friendly staff in this family run hotel. Great location for the art museums (2 min walk) and the vondelpark and lovely local eateries. Room was basic but clean. Continental breakfast ideal- you must try the dutch pancakes- amazing! Would definitely recommend and already considering booking again later in the year.

Other reviewers have said it and I will repeat it: this hotel is a gem. Great location, wonderful staff, delicious breakfast, clean rooms, and a reasonable rate. I would stay there again without any hesitation, in fact I am dreaming about their "pancakes" (crepes) right now.

Stayed there for one night on a business trip to Amsterdam (conference at the RAI). My travel manager had initially proposed the Sheraton at the airport. This property is not a business hotel with the usual amenities (and costs). This is a charming family owned hotel in an old house with very friendly service in a beautiful part of Amsterdam,... If you are visiting Amsterdam to experience the city, shop and go to the museums, this is the hotel for you. It offers you a good bed, good breakfast and very friendly and service minded staff. You will not find a spa, swimming pool or other similar stuff at this hotel - but are you in Amsterdam to spend your... More

If you are coming to Amsterdam to visit the museums, this is the place to stay. It is easy walking distance to the the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh and the Modern Art Museum. There are good restaurants nearby and the tram stop is convenient as well. The Hotel is family owned and they do everything possible to make you welcome.... More

I will start with my only negative... room 12 is on the ground floor and, as it overlooks a busy street and youth hostel, it is not the room for light sleepers. However, the room is ideal for coming and going with ease and it is a good size. Hotel Fita is a gem. The staff are friendly, the breakfast... More

The hotel could not be more conveniently located for visiting the Rijks and Van Gogh museums being almost right next door to them. For other attractions, it will be a walk or short bus ride into the centre. It is in a lovely almost residential area with a few good restaurants and shops. The Vondel Park is also just round... This hotel was everything I possibly could have asked for. I stayed here in September 2014 as part of a solo trip to Paris & Amsterdam. I was greeted by Queenie when I checked in. She graciously explained all the hotel services available: Wi-Fi, breakfast, laundry... all free. In addition to the tremendous hospitality, the location is terrific for sightseeing... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
