Stayed here for 3 nights, it seemed like good value, and well located, when we got there it was very dated so it did put us off at the start, but the staff are extremely warming & very helpful, so it made things alot better & I was actually glad I stayed there. Note: the walls are extremely thin (LOL)... More

Very happy with our twin room on the 4th floor of this very quiet hotel in Amsterdam. Located near the Leidesplein makes for easy access to the trams and 197 airport bus. Hidden away behind the Marriot means that it is very quiet. Furthermore, it is 2 mins walk from the lovely Vondelpark, making it ideals for strolls! The rooms... More

Our first visit to Amsterdam was made a success as this hotel was very convenient for almost everything that Amsterdam has to offer. We could walk to the museums and the Heineken experience as well as lots of places to eat. Hotel was very clean and comfortable

I was looking forward to a stay here but after a delay with my incoming airline my room was cancelled. What bothered me was that the hotel had been contacted by email AND by a Dutch speaking friend informing them I would not be there until the next day...my reservation was for two nights. They even sent an email saying... More

our first visit to Amsterdam and we particularly wanted a fairly central but quiet hotel. The Owl fitted the bill perfectly. There were lots of eating places very close by and the centre of old Amsterdam easy to reach - and we were using a wheelchair! The breakfast was fine - lot better than Premier Inn! The staff especially were... More

This is a nice hotel located just a few minutes walk from Leidseplein, in the very quiet area around Vondelpark. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room small, with the zink in the room, outside of the bathroom. Strange, but in a way convenient. The bed was 160 cm wide, the TV small, high up on the wall. The wifi... More

The husband and I have no complaints about this hotel. Other reviewers mentioned it being not close to city center but it's a pretty quick walk. Less than 10 minutes to all the food and shops. I found the location perfect as I wouldn't want to be in the loud busy city center anyhow. This place is just on the... More

The Owl hotel offers a great location and friendly helpful staff. The room was clean and the breakfast generous. The staff arranged bike rental for us right at the door. Our daughter came to stay a few nights and a cot was organized with no fuss I highly recommend this hotel for a visit to Amsterdam.

On the plus side, the Owl Hotel is located in a quiet street just behind Liedersplien, a central area close to most tourist attractions, shopping zones etc: On the minus side it appears to operate a 'grab as much as you can' pricing structure which borders on exploitation. We booked via Booking.com -- which took my credit card details but... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
