We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. We were very disappointed. The only good thing was the view over the canal. Room was reasonably clean. No tea and only coffee for 1 cup. Meal at night was not very tasty. This came out of a plastic container and was heated up. Breakfast was not terrific either. Meals were far too... More

Nothing to fault really, good location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and not too small room facing the canal, WiFi and a surprisingly good breakfast selection! There are tram stops and good restaurants nearby, including the upmarket Zinc, and some health food places around the corner.

II had a stop-over in Amsterdam, and wanted an affordable hotel in the center of the city. The location is excellent: 20 minutes walk from the train station, and within easy walking distance of the whole city center. The service was friendly enough, the room was also OK, though I had the double deluxe room; my colleague only got a... More

The staff at this hotel were fantastic and if I was rating on them alone it would have five stars. However, the room wasn't as clean as I would have hoped for the price we paid. It was a tad bit expensive and not as close to the attractions as I would have liked. The housekeeping was very poor and... More

My boyfriend and I were backpacking Europe for 5 weeks and this stay was our "splurge" as it was the only hotel we were staying in. Unfortunately, we were dissapointed with our decision. The first night we arrived there was no hot water. We went out to get food and luckily it was back on later that night. Around midnight... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and wish we'd gone elsewhere. we had 2 so - called superior rooms which had filthy carpets in need of replacement. Most disappointing was the lack of tea making facilities as each room only had coffee machines. I asked the lady in reception if we could make a cup of tea from the breakfast... More

Dear Guest, We are sorry to hear that your visit was not as pleasant as it should be. We have installed new nespresso machine in the rooms to provide a better cup of coffee. Indeed those machines do not make a nice cup of tea. We will look into this matter and when more guest want we will put an... More

We stayed in Amsterdam for 2 nights in April and wanted to stay in a small independent hotel rather than a faceless chain. This ticked that box beautifully - very unique, family feeling with staff, décor, rooms etc. The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from the city centre and 5 minutes from the Rijksmuseum and the canal tours. The... More

The hotel is on a lovely canal and has beautiful flowers cascading from window boxes. There is a lovely garden in the back for sitting and taking breakfast or late night drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is an elevator to the upper floors. We were originally given the 2 room arrangement described below by another traveler... More

Staying in Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Ring (Grachtengordel)
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
