Room was clean but basic. Shower was powerful and the beds suprisingly comfortable. Some staff were helpful but most were rude and I felt we were an inconvenience to their day when the few times we asked for ,say cuttlery or our room key, so if you don't expect good service and you're hardly there you'll be fine. Stayed with friends, four lads in total, been to the Dam several times and this place is the best yet which was a pleasant surprise given some of the negative reviews i've read. Two of us stayed in this Hostel when England were playing out in Amsterdam so we were not expecting a quiet time :)... We arrived at about 9am, and although we were not able to put our bags in the room, they did check us in and put our bags in a secure room...the service was good as was busy... more

The only thing good was the location and the free breakfast... the rooms were very old, and very dirty, the bathroom in our room was very very dirty, and the towels they provided were like tissue paper! The staff was very friendly though, but a hassle to get into when the pub is busy and some of the guests can... more

This place has gone from being a hotel with a bar to being just a bar with a few rooms in the back. I stayed here a few years ago and thought it was a decent, cheap art hotel with a good location. we stayed there for a week. the staff was very nice, helpful and payed attention at our request to have a quiet room. they gave us maybe the most isolated room at the last floor, so we had silence and intimacy. despite some comments i read here, the bar downstairs closes at about 12-1 am so it's not so noisy... more

Couldn't argue with this place. If your looking purely for a place to sleep at night then you can't go wrong. Sited on top of a bar the staff are brilliant. Met loads of like minded people here. Made my trip. more
