I visited Amsterdam last week. Originally we booked an apartment, but when we got there the owners were no where to be found. We had no place to stay, we were exhausted, and, to make matters worse, it was raining. We spent the whole day trying to contact the owners of the apartment we booked, and trying to find another... For the price I paid for this hotel I thought it was good . Most hotels in Amsterdam in this price range have lots of stairs. The room was very clean warm and well presented, and the was no smell of drugs. It was in a Good location right next to the tram line, with a great pub around the corner.

First, they charge you for the wifi (5 euro per day), and the signal is outrageous, you can barely surf and you need to reconnect every five minutes. Second, the receptionist lady (the one with thick Russian accent and glasses — I was too startled to ask for her name) was ridiculously patronising and rude with me. My first night... More

I visited in December and the room was very very cold. A lot of stairs, too many stairs and you must pay for everything. The Internet should be a part of facilities not something that cost extra money. We live in moments were we need the Internet.

My room was small and basic but so was the price. Being on the top floor the stairs (I counted 72 steps) provided a good work out! Friendly staff and a good standard of cleanliness. I found the staff friendly and the shared facilities always clean. Europahal Amsterdam RAI is a 20 minute walk away where I was attending a... More

Nice place to stay, perfect to move easily around the city (trams 16 and 24 will take you directly to Amsterdam Centraal Station). There is a nice place to have breakfast just in front of the hotel ("Corner Bakery"). Room size correct, TV, toilet with shower, but not WIFI not included (I read in Budget Places it was included in... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
