The Hans Brinker is a great place to stay if you're not looking for anything fancy. I stayed in a six person room. Three bunk beds (with no ladders - hilarious to watch after a night out). Food is reasonable and cheap, there's wifi if you like their page on Facebook. There's also a basement "club" which has a unique... More

Having booked our trip to Amsterdam very last minute the Hans Brinker was the best value option for a private room, however having read reviews beforehand we were extremely nervous about what to expect. I would describe the room as very basic, but clean and comfortable which lets face it what more do you want in Amsterdam. Our room was... More

Comfy mattress, clean sheets and in a good area, but thats the only positives I have. Stayed in a very small 4-bed dorm, top bunks didn't have ladders or rails, mine wasn't against a wall and felt very unsafe. No where to put suitcases, or even enough floor space for them, and they're not big at all. Bathroom was average,... More

If you want a bed to stay in with breakfast provided in the morning, this is the place to stay. Friendly staff with a sense of humour too. Close to main attractions in the city with multiple cycle hire shops available to rent a bike nearby. It's easy to find too, big sign out the front, you're not going to... More

Myself and three friends (all females) travelled around Europe for a month and stayed in hostels for the duration. This was my least favourite but dont get me wrong it was everything a backpacker needs. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm to ourselves which was clean but basic. The hostel brands itself on being the "worst" hostel and Im... More

Great hostel with an excellent sense of humour. They had a bit of a checkered history with cleanliness and generally being run down, but have used this as a selling point. 'Improve your constitution at the Hans Brinker' was the line that made me book it. Some would say I was a bit soft in the head booking it after... More

A good hostel! I have to admit, I was kind of worried when I read an article about being self named worst hostel but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised. It's a big, busy, friendly budget hostel. There is a bar and big dining/lobby area. Breakfast is pretty standard. Wifi works pretty well in the lobby area. I stayed... More

nice, central hostel. Room was spacious, clean, with a private big locker with a key and ensuite bathroom, really good! It's a big and crowded hostel, so there are always people around; there's an inside bar that serves free breakfast in the morning (good) and where you can get cheap food and drinks all day. There's quite the party atmosphere but... More

Very basic, but does what it says on the tin. Room was the hottest place on Earth in July, but the all night bar comes in handy if you don't want to go in the rooms. It's situated in a decent enough area of Amsterdam and it's inexpensive for a capital city location.

Hi, We are aware of the fact during very high temperature outside it can be warm in some rooms. Indeed go outside, enjoy Amsterdam, our bar and club, so the only time you have to spend at the room is when you go to sleep! Greetings, Hans Brinker More

Well, we arrived then checked in and headed along the corridor with the many amusing posters slating the Hostel covering the walls. Braced and anticipating the worst, the door was opened to reveal a basic, clean and lovely room with a couple of bunk-beds and a locker each. The next step, would the shower work? Would the toilet flush? Would... More
