Oh dear. If the Netherlands ever have a prison population problem then the Amstel Botel is the solution as the inmates will have an instant home-from-home. Lets get it out on the table - this is not a hotel, there are no luxury rooms. Staff are friendly enough. They are camouflaged so are difficult to find, with not so much... More

We made a last minute decision to stay over in AMS. We got cheapest room we could find. It was just above water line. felt like the hold of the ship. Room was dirty and VERY small. Location was excellent though. The one saving grace to stay here.

Smallest hotel room I have ever been. Had to ease myself in (I am not even big). Main door when opened could collide with toilet door. Some lights in room not working. Toilet as small as plane lavatory. Shower was poor and absolutely tiny so elbows etc kept hitting the walls. Below average cleanliness. Limited space for luggages. Poor ventilation... More

Had a lovely stay at the botel this month...... Staff helpful and friendly rooms bigger than expected. Breakfast basic but plenty of and tasty. Bathroom a little mouldy and floods if your not carefull during shower. Bed a little hard but that suits most people. We were on the top floor facing the city, lovely view and very quiet away... We have stayed at the Botel 4 times now, and love it. Yes, it's a bit away from Dam square, but the local ferries run every 15 mins during the day and 30 mins in the evening. Not much to do in the location where it is but we were out and about every day. We were close to Centraal... More

This is a great place to stay for everyone even if u r not on a budget. The staff are fantastic. We had a room on the top level. Rooms are very basic but bigger than I thought. The bed was not to bad. The room we had was on the middle and they changed us to the top. Great... More

Basic accommodation and a bit away from central Amsterdam (free ferry) but nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and slept the best ive done away from home. Ideal for a short break and reasonably priced, night security man was lovely and got us extra pillows !

We stayed for 3 days and everyday there were new towels and the room was cleaned. The hotel itself is clean and very cozy in my opinion. I like places like those where you can feel welcome. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very nice. There is a ferry on every half an hour or so and from... More
