Killer location if you want to be around where things happen in Amsterdam. Walkable from every major attraction & transportation. Nice rooms, although a bit tight, free WiFi & Gym. Friendly & helpful staff. Recommended.

I booked this hotel and flight through expedite as it guarantees lowest price. The next day I saw same deal £34.32 cheaper so contacted them they said they would refund difference. This was in October!! Still no refund. This really put a cloud over trip. Saying that the trip was lovely with Christmas tree and decorations everywhere . The hotel... More

I have stayed at this hotel several times now and find the service there always great. The front desk people are cheerful and helpful. The location is really good located near Dam Square. There are other less expensive hotels that I have tried in the area but I have always been disappointed in them.

I first arranged for my son and his girlfriend to stay at this hotel back in November, they couldn't fault it and said staying there made his birthday special, so when I was thinking of looking to take my husband to Amsterdam for his birthday this weekend obviously I choose to stay at Swissotel! It was amazing, from the communication... More

Spent two nights at Swissotel Amsterdam this past week, were I staid for business reasons. Booked two guest rooms at this hotel for its proximity to the city center. However guest rooms were extremely noisy during the night and beds were uncomfortable. Hotel staff was not very helpful and did not alert about problem with noise coming from the street... More

The hotel is located right in the middle of everything that matters to the occasional Amsterdam tourist - shopping on one side, windows-sneaking on the other. It is not sophisticated, but it has the qualities and the services matching its location. Ask for an upper-floor room, if possible with a view to the main street.

It was a big disappointment from beginning till the end of our two nights stay. We have been informed only upon check in that hotel has renovation on second floor and thus their restaurant is closed for breakfast. No pre-arrival information given at all. This is surprising for a level of Swissotel managemet. In the evening, I have wanted to... More

Everything in this hotel are excellent especially the reception and management staff. Location is perfect in the heart of Amsterdam and near everything. The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was very nice in the restaurant of the hotel.

We paid for a superior room overlooking Dam Square for three nights. This was one of the noisiest rooms we've ever had anywhere. Just as the revellers went quiet, the trams and traffic started at 6am. To make matters worse there is building work taking place on floor below. We only found out about this AFTER we'd checked in. Reception... More

Stayed at the Swissotel over new years for 3 nights. No complaints but was expensive for a fairly average room. To be fair that may have been due to the time of year we stayed. Best thing about the hotel is its fantastic location, right on Dam Square.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
