I can't praise this hotel enough. The location is wonderful, on the canal and in the heart of the city. Our room was beautiful, super-comfortable bed, a large updated bathroom and an incredible view. My highest praise however is for Roeland the concierge. Without a doubt, he made our vacation an absolute success. His recommendations, connections, access to tickets, depth... More

My family stayed for 4 nights for first time visit to Amsterdam. Great hotel with immaculate service, facilities and food. Concierge were especially friendly and excellent. The only drawback was that both of our rooms were quite noisy during our stay as it seems the back street were full of young people partying late into night. Front should have at... More

Dear guest, It is a pleasure to read that you liked the hotel, service, food & facilities and our staff. I am sorry that you experienced some noise outside of the hotel; this must have occurred on one of the days that due to the warm weather a lot of people were in the streets. Should you decide to book... More

This was our first visit but not the last. Fantastic location, superb terrace retaurant with lovely views of the river. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them to attend to always with a smile on their faces. Lunch on the terrace is wonderful in the sunshine. Freddy's bar for a prosecco and some lovely relaxing... More

I've stayed here twice now, and eaten in the restaurant numerous times. The staff has always been very helpful, the rooms clean and nicely decorated, and the property itself beautiful. The bar (Freddy's) is great for a cocktail and the bartender is so friendly and willing to create any type of drink you can think up. Love the addition of... More

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location to explore the city, shop and eat! The staff was extremely helpful! Attending to our every need and question. We arrived as Pride was in full swing. A million people come to Amsterdam during this weekend and it was a great reintroduction for me to this city. We had an interior room which meant we go some sleep. All hotel rooms are different and have different prices, go with what you can and check on the view if that... More

Just spent 4 nights here. Lovely room 339 (although smaller than I expected and no view) with enormous bed with huge pillows and a lovely marble bathroom. iPad available in the room and Nespresso machine. Furniture felt a bit too big for the room but it was still nice. Breakfast was wonderful and especially on the last day when there... More

We had a great experience at this fabulous hotel in Amsterdam! We were there in July for 5 nights,so glad we stayed at this property. We stayed at De L'Europe for three nights in July 2015. Our room overlooked the street and was quiet and beautiful. While the room was quaint and charming, the bathroom was modern with an amazing overhead shower and very deep tub. We were able to walk from the hotel to many nearby sites such as the Reijks Museum, Van Gogh... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
