This hotel comprised of both ingredients required for an unforgettable stay: luxury and impeccable service along with(at least by my opinion) the best location in Amsterdam! The location just across the flower market and the old city which is just great for shopping, walking around and tasting Amsterdam.

I have stayed in a a lot of great hotels, but this one is tops!! From the moment you arrive and are greeted on the street, to the welcoming staff and then to one of the most gorgeous rooms - huge and luxe and so architecturally interesting - it was a dream. Our room had an incredible bathroom - with... More

We were very impressed with De L'Europe in Amsterdam. The location is absolutely perfect. The accommodations were superior in every aspect with excellent, very attentive in-room service and not to mention the canal views. Guest relations at check in and with porter services are impressively professional and friendly. Service at breakfast buffet (an excellent buffet!) and at lunch outside along the... More

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are in Amsterdam! The concierges and staff go out of their way to ensure that your needs are met at every turn. The premise is extremely well kept, and the location is fantastic! You are right on the canal, a block from the 'Flower Market', and only a few blocks... More

The hotel was completely redone a few years ago. The rooms are good size for Europe, our bathroom was the largest ever. All marble with large tub an separate shower. We could not get a balcony room because of the Sail weekend every thing was sold out a year in advance. Located on the Amstel canal it was a great... More

Stayed here on night after a flight from NYC before heading to Kilimanjaro. We were upgraded to a 2-room suite in the new wing. Very contemporary room, modern and spacious overlooking the canal. Service is excellent. We ate at the outdoor restaurant which is wonderful to absorb the life of the Dutch as they sail the canals at sunset. Breakfast... More

Charming, picturesque hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam. The decor of the hotel and the rooms is worthy of the rating, as is the service. The blend of modern amenities with traditional grandeur is something a traveler will truly appreciate.

What isn't to like about the De L'Europe in Amsterdam? Our room had the most incredible down pillow top that we all felt like we were floating on clouds! Five star all the way around. The hotel even provided child "nannies" to watch the kids while we enjoyed drinks on the canal. The service is impeccable and very friendly. Everything... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
