Just before our trip to Amsterdam we were frantically trying to find an alternative hotel due to the negative reviews of this hotel. Luckily we didn't. The hotel is in an excellent location just off Damrak and around 10 minutes walk from the central station. We were given a room on the top floor which was reached by a lift... More

Stayed here with my girlfriend for 2 nights, the hotel was just enough for the amount of nights we stayed here, a great visit and also the location couldn't be any better, would definitely stay here again! It is close to everything in the Amsterdam city centre, also a 5 minute walk from the train station which takes you directly... More

The Hotel itself was clean and tidy but the room i got was 140 a comfortable double. Now on closer inspection showed the hotel was slipping with its standards. i Found the following faults with my room. Door pins coming lost, The towels are past there sell by date. The Towels had rips in them. There was a cupboard with... More

Stayed there in the end of June. The street noise could hardly allow to sleep, the walls are also very thin as i heard almost everything from the neighbour room. Everything else is ok. The location is perfect!

Worst place I ever stayed! The room smelled of cigarette smoke, I asked to change and they showed me two other rooms that were even worst! The hotel was full because was January 1st, and they were painting inside without warnings around,my boyfriend lost a jacket and a backpack and they acted like they were right. Terrible!

Given some of the reviews I had read I was relieved to see it was much better than expected and i didn't regret my decision to stay there!. Large room, very clean, very central location and safe area to walk - a few doors up from the police station!. The staff were friendly and the room was serviced properly every... More

The hotel location is just perfect, walking distance from/to Central station and right on the tourist shopping area. everything was convenient and there were several halal restaurants within walking distance. Rooms were spacious and sufficient, meets expectations. WIFI is super fast!

I loved the central location of this small hotel. The accomodations were ok but everyone was friendly and there was plenty of places to visit with in walking distance. If you like a chill atmosphere and friendly people this is a great place to visit

Definitely not a 3 star hotel. Rooms are in serious need of renovation. Our bathroom had been renovated. However there was no toilet roll holder so toilet paper was balanced on the handle of the toilet brush. Also no soap dish in the shower so soap & shower gel had to be balanced on the top of the shower screen.... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
