Clean, nice and good location. I would stay there anytime, good location and friendly staff. Short walk to the center of Amsterdam and the pedestrian streets. I had a window facing the park and that was nice

Although the triple room was quite tight - lacking in floor space and storage - it was certainly pleasant enough. Quiet, with windows facing out to a nice private courtyard. Location is excellent, right on the Vondelpark, short walk to transit stop as well as Van Gogh and Rijksmuseums, reasonable walk to city center. Good breakfast in a cheery breakfast... More

stayed here for a 3 night stay in August. Had been travelling around Europe for 2 months and this was the worst place I stayed in (out of approx 14 hotels). I was in the basement and my window opened onto a public area so I was not comfortable having it open (middle aged woman, travelling alone) - when I... More

Hotel Piet Hein was a good choice as a solo traveller. The price was reasonable for August. You don't get much space as stated in other reviews, a small single bed, full length mirror, desk and bathroom (with a wet room style shower). Although small, I found it to be perfect for my needs as I spent all day exploring... More

Stayed for 2 nights in an economy room. No denying that the rooms were small. However, everything else was great. Comfy bed lovely lobby and garden areas helpful staff. The location was great. The hotel is in the museum district which is beautiful, opposite Vondel Park, and only 10 minutes walk from Leidsplein. I would certainly think about staying here... More

We stayed at Hotel Piet Hein 16 - 21 Aug 2015. Location opposite Vondel Park was excellent - 30 minute walk to Central Station - suited us very well as we like to walk off the food and drink of holidays. Very close to restaurants of Leidseplein and the museums of Museumplein - just round the corner from Rijksmuseum and... More

We booked a basic room that was very clean and comfortable and just what we wanted. We don't spend much time at the hotel so just needed a base that is close to the attractions and that is comfortable and provides a good nights sleep. This hotel fitted the bill precisely. We didn't ask for much but when we did... More

At first glance a boutique hotel centrally located. It turns out the website writes checks the rooms cannot cash. The rooms are SMALL, and we had a "premium" room (323). The bathroom is smaller still and has a distinctly IKEA/DIY feel to it. The showerhead was attached with a rubber band and the ceiling was decorated with mildew and flakey... More

The location is excellent. The rooms are spare, but nice, clean and functional. The morning staff is wonderful. The late afternoon/evening desk clerk could have been friendlier. I did have issues with both rooms I was given (the first had no air con, but it was supposed to and the second had a smoke detector that went off because of... More

Tucked into a corner of the Vondelpark, this pleasant little hotel is the ideal place for a short break. We had a lovely room with a living area, two flat-screen TVs, and a sofa. The bed was really comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and smart with a huge spa bath and separate shower area. The staff were kind and... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
