I booked this hotel for my parents who were visiting me in the Netherlands and was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews online. I went to see the hotel before booking and i was pleasantly surprised. It is in the oud zuid district of Amsterdam which is the best area and where you oftern see several famous... More

Our family of 4 people including 2 children (16y & 12y) stayed in this hotel for 3 days during Christmas holiday week. I did some research before our Europe trip, and read the reviews at this site. As usual, I pay more attention to the creditable posts (i.e. people with multiple reviews). I notice quite a few "noise" posts here... More

I stayed in the Omega Hotel Amsterdam with my mother for 3 nights and it was the worse place we have ever stayed. The adjacent church did not let is sleep for the first night so we moved rooms. The sceond night checking in guests came into our room in the middle of the night as there was a mix... More

I stayed here for a conference in June 2009. I got a discount by prebooking on hotels.nl. Very good price for central Amsterdam. The room was a decent size, comfortable bed, clean en-suite shower and toilet, a mini-bar and air conditioning which came in handy as it was the middle of summer! A breakfast buffet is included in the price... More

We were thrown out in the morning for wanting to wait for our taxi outside rather than inside!!! The guy was a total nutter. My three year old was terrified. He told us to "go back to our own country". Needless to say we won't be staying there again. The church bells went off every hour and were loud. We... More

We were moved into this hotel from Sander hotel as they apparently had broken toilets!! The Omega is an awful place, I shared a room with my friend. We stayed in attic room that you couldnt swing a cat in. The bed covers were disgusting - very stained. Breakfast was awful and on our last day there having booked a... More

Having wanted a relaxing weekend away I was looking for a cheap, clean and a hotel instead of a hostel. The Omega hotel has a perfect balance. It's situated in a quiet residential area but there is a tram stop at the end of the road that goes past the city centre and straight to the railway station (No. 2... More

We were there for 4 days....one staff member was rude, but the rest were very pleasant....it was clean, breakfast good, small hotel atmosphere.... close to museum, and not far from the city.

The hotel itself was as expected, no frills, clean and simple. Staff however badly let it down. We would of returned for a good cheap holiday had we not been ignored and sworn at by staff! as a whole, bar one, the staff were incredible rude unnecessarily. Hopefully the hotel will change their staff and make it into a better... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
