besides location, location, location making for a great hotel the other requirement is a dedicated staff. the Ambassade certainly has both. it combines the old of Amsterdam with the new of Amsterdam in a way that makes for a totally memorable and enjoyable visit. we could not have been more pleased.

This hotel, hands down, has the best customer service. Everyone is very polite and helpful. The instant you walk into the hotel, you feel like you are in a 5 star hotel. We had some friends staying in a near by apartment for rent. When they got into town, they couldn't get a hold of the owner for the key.... More

Arriving at the Ambassade Hotel, beautiful and seamlessly integrated into the original streetscape at 7:30 am on a Sunday in August, we needed gentle handling and got it. Yost welcomed and checked us in promptly, took the luggage, showed Helen to the public bath for a freshen up and sent us back out the door with a map and local... More

GOOD: -Very good and beautiful hotel (romantic and very beautiful "old style"). - Great central location! Very professional helpful and friendly staff (all, but I have to point out especially Ric from reception). - Rich and tasty breakfast. (untill 11:00!) - Wondrful view from room (delux canal view). Things to repair if possible: - Our room, although very beautiful, and... More

Two rooms while staying with family (two older teens). Hotel is charming and consists of connected Amsterdam houses, so each room is different. Rooms were smallish, but comfortable. Bathroom was ok. Tub barely drained. Service was good but not exceptional.

Amsterdam is largely about charm, and this hotel is quite charming. The room furnishings and amenities were definitely high class. However, the "charming" hotel structure - a series of attached narrow buildings - had one unexpected drawback. When we wrote initially to the hotel we inquired about elevators and were told yes, there are elevators. However, when we received our... More

Our family of four spent a night in one of the senior suites with a canal view. It was like having our own apartment. Great location. The stairs to the room were very steep, so if you have a problem getting up and down stairs, this would not be the place for you. Otherwise, lovely.

The location is excellent, the staff is friendly and very helpful; the rooms are pleasant, but a bit small, there are no tea/coffee making facilities, the wifi is erratic and slow; the breakfast is good.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in a gorgeous historic location within walking distance of most tourist attractions. It is immaculately maintained and very comfortable. Staff are unfailingly charming and cannot do enough to help. The brasserie restaurant, which had its first night while we were there, offers a high standard of cooking - the best meal we ate in... If you are going to Amsterdam for the first time, I highly recommend you consider the ambassade. It is the perfect hotel in a perfect location. Now to qualify that. I am a quiet 53 year old man who no longer needs to be in the hustling and bustling section of a city. I prefer a centrally located, but picturesque... More

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
