The location was perfect, close enough to the center but at the same time far away from all the noise. The rooms were excellent, very clean and had great views over the canals. Overall the hotel was worth the money, will stay in it again when I come back.

We stayed for one night as part of a DFDS mini cruise from Newcastle, approx 10 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam & within easy reach to the canal boat stops. We arrived too early to check in but were able to leave our bags in storage & head off in to Amsterdam. When we returned check in was busy... More

I stayed in a room overlooking the canal -- it was spacious, clean, tranquil, with everything I needed. And the view was picturesque and calming. Front desk staff helpful and friendly, really great breakfast, and served at hours (6-10) that make sense for an international traveler who wakes up early and hungry due to jet-lag. The Stopera is a bit... More

Great place to stay. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was basic but it's an Ibis and has everything you need. It was very clean with bedding and towels refreshed every day. Location was excellent. A quick stroll and you can get to Central station, Dam Square, Rembrandt square, red light district. Not so central that you couldn't... More

We spent 2 days in Ibis Amsterdam Stopera, we enjoyed our stay. The room was up to the Ibis standard and clean. The hotel is located to an short distance walk to the centre. The only negative point was the breakfast as even though it's a all you can eat buffet, it is very expensive as it is 17€ per... More

Another Ibis hotel with standard services; clean room, inexpensive rate, nice breakfast (white cheese missing) with free wi-fi... Close to super market and public transportation. Do not expect luxury, but it's safe and worth your money...

We stayed 4 nights from 29th June and found the hotel to be very good value for money. Staff at reception during check-in and check-out were very helpful and spoke good English. The size of the room was in line with the price we paid, and was clean and comfortable. We were impressed with the location, the city centre and... More

Good hotel central location only 2 stops on the metro to Central Station or a 15 minute walk. Rooms were small but clean I liked the pre-check in which can be done before you arrive. Breakfast was ok but not a vast choice

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
