This is a fine, upscale hotel near the very centre of Amsterdam. It's about 100 m from the back of the Oude Kerk and the Magna Plaza. My wife and I have just returned home after spending an excellent 4 day break at The Convent. Just returned from a great stay at this hotel. Had a large quiet room on the fifth floor (room 508). Location was perfect, 10 minutes walk from Centraal station and 5 minutes from main shopping street and 10 minutes from Red Light District and Dam Square. Myself & 4 girlfriends stayed at the Convent for a birthday trip. Staying here made my Amsterdam experience all the better. It was clean, friendly, very central & all the special sofitel beds were the best I have ever slept in.This is definitely one of the more up market hotels but at a very cheap rate. This hotel is about 10 min easy walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Otherwise everything else is average to a 4 star hotel. A bike rental just next the hotel in the side street. Save us lots walk in Amsterdam. But their bikes are VERY OLD! Few block away has 'Yellow Bike' rental if you don't mind 'looking out standing' in... more

Friendly staff, although we kept having to go to reception to find the barman as he kept vanishing. My room was so small I couldn't sit at the desk, and as I was there 3 days I changed it. Internet was outrageous at 20 Euros per day, and the cable connection didn't work, so they removed it from the bill... more

Great Loacation in walking distance from Cetraal Station. Very easy to find for a firstimer in Amsterdam. Quick and friendly check in. Got a nice room on 3rd floor.
